Particularly, the view of Tromsø from above looks gorgeous (the challenge of getting to one of those high places to view the city from could be quite an experience too). Also, having such a city this far north seems to interest my curiosity, or something like that. :)

Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue
There's a huge shiny cool-looking statue of a horse in Mongolia east of Ulaanbaatar. It looks cool and it looks like you can go inside or on top of the horse statue. There seems to be a depiction of some guy riding the horse too but who cares about that. Yay horsey!

This apparent "ball of twine" in Cawker City, Kansas, is also cited as the "World's Largest". I'm not sure if that's a claim that can be verified with current information, but it might be an interesting stop.

Besseggen
A famous really cool view of two differently-colored lakes seems to be available here. Mountains, water, cool Norwayish scenery.

Arica and Parinacota Quebradas
In the Arica and Parinacota region of Chile, there are multiple "quebradas", or canyons/ravines/valleys or something like that. These things are huge, and an interesting thing about them is they're located in the Atacama Desert area. Also, they seem much more straight than other canyons and such, so from the rim, it might seem like an enormous ditch made of sand, but perhaps with some patches of green at the bottom. It could look really neat in person.
Yalta
Site of some war conference a while back I think, but the area 'round here looks quite pretty with mountains and coast stuff. Somewhere I think there's a cool theatrically-placed castle thing (it's small but neat, it seems) called "Swallow's Nest" and the views around here look pretty cool.

Saamis Tepee
Medicine Hat, Alberta, has a really tall tepee sculpture that apparently was used in the Calgary Olympics. Cool.
Sunday, July 14, 2013
Hot Springs National Park
Seems like the smallest National Park in the National Park System, and the feature seems to be more human-influenced than in other national parks. I think it's pretty much showing off a bunch of thermal baths or something in Arkansas. There are nice view areas in the nearby hills/mountains, though, which might be cool.
Dallas
Dallas has a neat-looking skyline, especially with the Reunion Tower and the Fountain Place building. Also, it's got some historical significance, with the site of the Kennedy assassination and the George W. Bush Presidential Library. Also nearby is Cowboys Stadium, which seems like an impressive structure even though I'm not much of an American football fan. Oh, and their City Hall grounds look neat.

Grand views of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

A dramatically-placed rocky crag, with great views of the Ozark Forest in northwestern Arkansas. Also, the Buffalo River (which I think the crag overlooks) seems to go by some beautiful sights, so one might want to check out more scenery in if the area here. :)

Thursday, June 13, 2013
Sutter Buttes
This looks like a pretty spot in Northern California around Yuba City, with pretty terrain and open hilly spaces to roam. However, it looks like exploring freely might be tougher here than in other places, due to some access restrictions. Might be worth the effort to get permission, though.
Kalambo Falls
Another waterfall? YEAHJHHHHH It's a pretty one in the pretty spot, I think. :) On the Tanzania-Zambia border, I think.
Friday, June 7, 2013
Flagstaff Hill
Another Oregon Trail spot: this one with quite a nice view of the Blue Mountains.
Three Island Crossing
This spot in Idaho was a significant point along the Oregon Trail. Crossing the Snake River could be dangerous but rewarding, letting travelers access a perhaps safer route than another. Now there's probably some museum stuff there, and likely some nice views too. Also, the town there looks charming. Might be an enjoyable historical stop. :)

NASA's big famous Florida center. Quite a popular tourist attraction, I think.

Steens Mountain in Oregon looks quite amazing. The topographical shapes include huge bowl-like gorges, and great viewpoints along the top of the mountain. There seem to be many impressive and beautiful sights that can be seen from this location.

There's some interesting stuff in Berlin, probably both historical and architectural and other stuff. Particularly, the Brandenburg Gate and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (Holocaust Memorial) might be good places to visit for their historical significance.
Saturday, May 4, 2013
Reykjavik
Seems like a pretty city, including the Hallgrimskirkja church, which is tall and looks neat, and probably has good views from its top. It's also got a cool-looking concert hall, the Harpa. It's also a fun place name to say and spell. :)
Longaberger Home Office
The Longaberger Home Office in central Ohio is pretty much shaped like a huge basket. And it looks like a very well done basket replica; it seems to be a very well disguised building. Might be a neat place to stop.
Cerro Paranal
The Paranal Observatory in Chile has quite a neat-looking hotel/residence thingy. You could probably do a web search for that and find what I mean.
Hungarian Parliament
The Hungarian Parliament building in Budapest seems to be one of the largest in the world, and it looks quite grand. I also like a red and white color scheme.
Other parts in Budapest might be pretty cool, too, like the Citadel and the Szent Gellert Monument thing with a waterfall thing. :D

Jog Falls
Jog Falls in Karnataka is apparently very strong and flowing at certain times of the year (post-monsoon, I suppose), and not so much other times due to a dam or something. The thing is huge though, so either way the area might be a really neat sight.

The dramatic coastline around Paul do Mar has twisting roads going around the area, with many amazing views of the mountains, ocean, and the town below. The mountaintop of Pico do Areiro offers dazzling scenery, both of it, and from it. Waterfalls, cities, and such can also be included in what could be seen here.
Sete Cidades
This caldera area of the Azorean island of São Miguel is beautiful. There are multiple lakes here, at the bottom of abstract bowl-like craters with towns and villages within. The views look fantastically stunning.
Corvo
The island of Corvo is apparently the smallest of the main islands in the Azores. In three dimensions, the island might look like a shoe, with the majority of the island being a huge volcanic cone with a large caldera. This caldera is the main reason I want to visit the island, I think. The views from the rim look beautiful, and down below are some lakes with great views of the upward-sloping land, which seem to host farms tilted on the terrain. There's a small flat part in the south of the island, which I'm guessing is where the main population area is.
Sunday, March 10, 2013
Pompeys Pillar
This thing in Montana is kinda famous for being a location along Lewis and Clark's trail, it seems, along the Yellowstone River. It appears to have a mark left by William Clark. Might as well check it out if in the area.

Kirkjufell
This is a mountain in western Iceland by the town of Grundarfjordur. It looks quite beautiful and monumental.
Nicosia
Cyprus's capital city is kinda divided between those two sides that seem to have kinda divided the nation for a while. The architecture here might be neat to check out, also the cultural influence of both sides. If you look at a map of the city, it seems that there's an interesting circular/star-shaped "Old City" in an interesting arrangement.
Blackpool Tower
An apparently famous tower in England, apparently built before 1900. Huh.
Loch Ness
A very famous loch in Scotland. There's at least one well-placed castle (settingwise, perhaps) by Loch Ness, which could be a great place to admire the view.

The Callanish Stones is a famous and likely ancient landmark on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland. Looks similar but more impressive than Stonehenge.
Inishnabro
Looks like another pretty island, but the "Cathedral Rocks" seem like the main star attraction here. The rocks on the island coast appear to do some really neat geologic thing or whatever, making for a fanastic-looking structure resembling a castle or cathedral. Looks quite grand.
Skelligs
The Skellig Islands in southwestern Ireland look weird and amazing. The shapes here are sharp, thin, and look like a fantastical place to be.
Mizen Head
This is a scenic location along Ireland's rocky southern coast. There's a bridge here, and the views around that look stunning.
Les Minquiers
These basically unpopulated islands (except for temporary residents, perhaps) seem to be part of Jersey, and appear to be the southernmost part of the British Isles. Many are quite tiny; many rocky; some sandy stuff. It looks like quite an intriguing place to visit.
They might also be known as Les Ecrehous, but I could be mistaken.
They might also be known as Les Ecrehous, but I could be mistaken.
Unst
This island appears to be the northernmost populated place in the United Kingdom (including all their overseas stuff, whether or not it's actually part of the "United Kingdom"), and the actual northernmost point in the U.K. is closeby as well, near a place called "Muckle Flugga" I think. The scenery in Unst includes rolling hills, seaside cliffs, beaches, and lochs. Looks very pretty, especially around the Hermaness area in the north.
Thursday, January 24, 2013

The basilica in Yamoussoukro is huge and kinda looks pretty. Also, there seem to be lots of spots for strolling by water or over it.

This is that place with the rocket stuff in Huntsville, Alabama.
Scotts Bluff
A big rock or something in western Nebraska, which seems odd due to the general flatness of Nebraska.
Smith Falls
In northern Nebraska, this waterfall is in a fairly rural/remote location, it seems. It seems pretty, as do its surroundings, so one might as well check it out if they're in the area.
Moon Hill
This mountain thing in Guangxi has a natural arch that looks huge and really cool, near Yangshuo. This might or might not be categorized as part of the Hills of Guilin, which have their own post here, but this thing does look neat enough to have its post I suppose.
Sleeping Giant
Sleep Giant is a geologic formation near Thunder Bay, Ontario. The main spectacle here appears to be the views of and from the very tall cliffs up there. The park of it seems to offer other pretty scenery in addition.
