UTA Flight 772 Memorial

A plane crashed in a bombing in 1989, and crashed in the Sahara Desert in Niger. They built a large memorial out there in the desert, which is apparently quite difficult to visit, and the natural movement of the sand dunes appear to have at least partially covered the memorial since then. Still, it would be an interesting experience if I'm ever in the area.

Komodo National Park

aside from the animal it's famous for, there are also really pretty islands here like Padar which is gorgeous

Benin City

not actually in modern Benin, but was formerly called Edo, the capital city of the Kingdom of Benin which is now a non-independent kingdom inside Nigeria. fascinating. their monarch guy, the "oba", has a palace here which is pretty old and fancy or so i've read. And apparently this place used to have the world's greatest system of city walls before the british showed up and wrecked everything

town in northern russia (nenets i think) near the arctic circle that is COVERED IN SAND OH YEAH

place in algeria with unique culture apparently and its a mountainy oasis with towns that look kinda pretty

famous royal hill with a palace that's apparently pretty big in malagasy traditional religion

Beninese town that was the capital of the kingdom of Dahomey which lasted a while and it's got some palaces that look cooly
