Mulanje
Mount Mulanje is a large mountain with surrounding geologic features that are pretty neat to look at. The views from the surrounding valleys and such look very worthwhile.

Bohemia
By this I mean, in particular, any of the beautifully built and colored cities of the Czech Republic. It would be extremely difficult to narrow down one specific city that stands out, because they are all quite romantic. Prague, Pilsen, Most, Carlsbad (especially Karlovy Vary! perhaps my final decision after all), Cheb, and so may others appear to be all amazing. A chance to visit any of these picturesque cities would be a privilege.
Kantara Castle
There is apparently a fairly good number of castles on the island of Cyprus. One of these, Kantara Castle, caught my attention by its position on quite a stunning mountain range. The view from this Crusades-era structure appears to be magnificent.

Guilin
The karst hills of Guilin in Guangxi are some of those famous huge tall hills/mountains you see in some portrayals of Chinese scenery and culture. Seeing them in real life would be much better than those images in our restaurants. There's also the Reed Flute Cave, which is interestingly lit up with lots of different colors.

Time Travel
Basically, visiting places on the map that involve interesting points of time zones.
- the Afghanistan-China border, which is also the border of very distant time zones

McMurdo Station
McMurdo Station is Antarctica's largest, I believe, so depending on your definitions, it's the largest city in Antarctica. There might not be a whole lot to do here, but whatever there is to do would definitely be cool to do in Antarctica.
Mount Everest
No way I want to climb that thing. Far too dangerous. But, I surely would like to see it in all its enormity.
Sydney
The Opera House and the Harbour Bridge are the two places I generally think of in Sydney. There surely is plenty to see there in addition.
London
There are plenty of things I'd hope to see in London. Of course, a few touristy places like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the Eye, Westminster Abbey, the O2, and Tower Bridge. Probably more to see there as well, which I'll probably decide once there's actually an opportunity. Oh yeah, the Royal Observatory of Greenwich! Neat!
Places in/around London to check out:

Rome
I'm not Catholic, but the buildings and gardens in the Vatican City look like a very interesting place to visit. Much history has taken place there, and possibly a lot more is to take place there.
Update: changed this entry from "Vatican City" to "Rome" because wow so much Rome. this includes vatican city too i guess, as well as the ancient forum, some fountains, some steps from roman holiday, the pantheon, italian government stuff, and other roman stuff. interesting and neat stuff :D

Kingdom Center
Riyadh's current tallest skyscraper is the Kingdom Center, one of the most recognizable modern buildings in the world. Its shape is distinguishable as one of Saudi Arabia's symbols of wealth.
Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal in India is quite an amazing building. The grounds of the Taj Mahal seem like a wonderful place to explore and take pictures, and surely there's plenty to do, with it being such a huge tourist destination.
Beijing
Beijing is one of the world's most architecturally impressive cities. The huge structures all over the city and the Chinese experience would be quite a neat thing to see.
Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls is an amazing waterfall set where a large wide river collects into a tiny-by-comparison canyon. The Zambezi River, to be exact, spills over this area between Zambia and Zimbabwe in one of the world's most impressive displays.
Mount Meru
Mount Meru is a volcanic mountain in Tanzania, and it appears quite amazing due to it shape; it appears to be a large conic mountain with a huge volcanic bulge sticking up in the middle of it. Quite a geological oddity, but certainly a fantastic one as well.
Kilimanjaro
I would like to at least get a good view of Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro. Probably wouldn't want to climb it if it was too difficult, but just to se it would probably be really amazing.
Uluru
I would like to go visit Ayers Rock, aka Uluru. It's a pretty popular tourist destination, but that wouldn't stop me since it looks so huge and cool. The nearby Kata Tjura also looks neat.

Eravikulam
Eravikulam National Park includes Mount Anaimudi, which has color and beauty that stands out among other famous peaks, and an endangered species called the Nilgiri Tahr. It's all quite a pretty area in southern India.

Bodiam Castle
Quite a lovely architectural masterpiece in a grand English setting, surrounded by a fantastic moat.

Damavand
I'd really like to find a good view of Iran's most prominent peak, Damavand. Possibly a perspective from Nava would do quite nicely.
Orizaba
Pico de Orizaba looks spectacular. Also nearby in the Orizaba area is a village called Aquila located at the bottom of a valley, which I imagine is like a Central American city in an eastern European setting. The beautiful terrain and the color decorating it is surely worth the visit, though.
Bioko
The island of Bioko, belonging to Equatorial Guinea, is the location of that nation's capital city Malabo. From here, there are spectacular views across the strait, over 20 miles long, all the way northeast to Cameroon on the mainland. This is quite possible due to one of creation's most amazing peaks, Mount Cameroon.
Also on Bioko is a peak of its own, Pico Basile, with great views of nearly the entire island. Not sure if it's climbable, though, considering Equatorial Guinea's "tiny African nation" status.

Tanjung Piai
Tanjung Piai is a Malaysian park located at mainland Asia's southernmost tip, and besides being beautiful, it's a very geographically-themed point of interest. Yeah, there's kind of a theme going on here with my recent posts. Still, this place looks quite lovely.
Babakale
Babakale is located on mainland Asia' easternmost point, in Canakkale. There is a very nicely-built fort on the Aegean coast with many things to compliment for their aesthetic appeal.
Kara River
The northern Kara River (specifically around the eastern area of Nenets) flows along spectacular Arctic scenery such as tundra and amazing gorges.
Nordkyn
Nordkyn is a location at mainland Europe's northernmost point, in Norway. Enormous cliff faces line the coast, and there appears to be a mood of loneliness and awe present. Maybe checking out Nordkapp and/or Knivskjellodden would be cool.
Cabo do Roca
Cabo do Roca in Portugal is, I believe, the westernmost point in mainland Europe. It's also a beautiful illustration of Psalm 24.

Big Ben
Big Ben is a huge icy peak on Heard Island, an Australian territory in Antarctica's general region. From the easternmost point of this island, on a very thin peninsula, is a spectacular view of the frozen above and the sandy below. I would love to come here just for this photo op.
Baie Larose
Baie Larose of Kerguelen Island has a beautiful coast, with many beautiful spires along it, complete with a view of the ice-frozen Mont Ross. Also, the "Doigt de Sainte-Anne" is located here, which is quite an amazing rock formation on the bay/bight's east coast.
Paterson Great Falls
Just heard this waterfall area in downtown Paterson, New Jersey, is about to be added to the National Park System. Looked it up, and it's actually quite a remarkable thing from what it seems. I'd like to check this place out; a tourist destination in New Jersey that isn't gambling-related sounds quite appealing.

"Cool Names Tour"
Basically, visiting places with unusual and/or amusing names in the United States (since it's more likely than the rest of the world). Here's a list I can add to here and there, I suppose:
- Cheesequake, New Jersey
- Kanakanak, Alaska
- Kinikinik, Colorado
- Natchitoches, Louisiana
Special mentions:
- Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

La Paz
A huge city way up high. It's got neat twists and turns and bridges and really cool stuff like that. It's like a city built out of a canyon or something. And the fact that it's huge with skyscrapers, stadiums, and everything, makes it even cooler.
Thursday, October 20, 2011
Point Udall
The Caribbean island of Saint Croix belongs to the United States Virgin Islands. Point Udall, a tiny peninsula on a peninsula on the island, is the easternmost point of United States land. Better than this is the panorama of green island and blue ocean surrounding the point, along with the crazy cliffs on the shore.
Southern Dagestan
The area of Dagestan that borders Azerbaijan is a very amazing spot on the planet. The Caucasus mountains give the villages here a gorgeous setting. The spot near the southernmost point in Russia is especially a spot I'd like to see. One person states that the highest settlement in Europe is located in or near a place called Qurush, and it sure is beautiful there.
Tuesday, October 18, 2011
Lake Huites
Located near the place where Chihuahua, Sinaloa, and Sonora meet, Lake Huites is a pretty big lake, with nice backdrops of the surrounding mountains all over.
Friday, October 14, 2011
Vinales Valley
A large valley near Vinales, Cuba, has some great views of tall rounded mountains/hills. There are also caves nearby, and an enormous colorful mural on one of the mountains. The greenery here is also astounding.
Plitvice Lakes
Possibly the most beautiful natural scenery in all of Europe. Croatia's most popular national park is located in the Dinaric Alps, featuring lakes aplenty with very colorful contributions. Lots of great ways to explore this land, I'm sure. A hike among all this beauty would quite surely make my day.
Man
Not necessarily the city of Man is the place I'd like to see here, but the mountainous area around it, part of the Guinea Highlands. There lots of interesting peaks and prominent features in Man's area. There is also a promising-looking national park to the northeast.
Chirripó National Park
Chirripó is the highest mountain in Costa Rica, and much of Central America. Surrounding this rocky peak is a national park with some amazing rock formations. A group of these are called the Crestones (Los Crestones), and are quite tall and grand to look at. Many high-elevation lakes and small bodies of water are located up here in the Continental Divide highlands.
Monday, October 10, 2011
Taranaki
Taranaki is a beautiful and huge mountain (also count Mount Egmont) on New Zealand's North Island. It's the centerpiece (centrepiece) of Egmont National Park, which is a circular area surrounding the peak, filled with great natural preservation in contrast to the surrounding farmland.
Musandam Peninsula
For some odd reason, much or all of the Musandam Peninsula belongs to Oman right now, as a sort of exclave. Still, it's quite a nice piece of land. Not only is it by the "border" of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, it's also home to a quite impressive area of fjords and mountains at its very tip. Among these winding and twisting turns in the rocks, there is a very interesting town called Kumzar, which looks quite fantastical in the valley setting among this unique geology.
Thursday, October 6, 2011
Bristol
Bristol is technically two cities, but they border each other right on the boundaries of Tennessee and Virginia, so it would seem to be one big city being there. State Street in its downtown area goes right along the boundary, with a few plaques and stuff to note the boundary here and there. There are also interesting cultural events that take place from time to time.
Tuesday, October 4, 2011
Mount Nyiragongo
Do not want to climb this one. Judging by its very fiery caldera, it's a pretty scary volcano. What I do wish to see is the glow that its lava lake gives off at night. Also interesting to tour could be Virunga National Park, which Nyiragongo is either part of or very near to.
Tatacoa Desert
In northern Huila Department of Colombia, there is a beautiful desert landscape called the Desierto de Tatacoa. It's quite pretty from the pictures I've seen of it: the rocks are quite colorful and are shaped quite creatively. There are also many kinds of cacti to add to the scenery.
Monday, October 3, 2011
Ilha da Trindade
Ilha da Trindade is an island of Brazil way out in the Atlantic. Not way, way out, like Saint Helena, but still quite a ways from the mainland. Anyway, it's really colorful, pretty, and has lots of neat mountainous terrain, so it'd be quite a neat place to explore by helicopter or foot or something like that.
Friday, September 30, 2011
Qutang Gorge
In Chongqing, there's a beautiful gorge in the Three Gorges area called the Qutang Gorge, which is magnificent in terrain and color and size. The famous Yangtze River, if it's still called that officially now, goes through here. It's quite a sight, and a recommendation for a Chinese trip.
Ennedi
The area of Ennedi in northwestern Chad has a bunch of beautiful rock formations, including tons of arches, and even a natural labyrinth of sorts (Kéchéli). The scenery available here is quite spectacular and fantastic.
Chutes de Boali
The Boali Falls (Chutes de Boali) are in Ombela M'Poko, in the Central African Republic. There's a big dam up river, I think, that controls some of the flow of these falls, which are huge, beautiful, and not visited very often.
Tuesday, September 27, 2011
Mount Tabor
Mount Tabor is a beautiful mountain in northern Israel, surrounded by beautiful scenery in pretty much every direction. When the flowers here are blooming would be a great time to see this area.

Cape Verde
I can't decide which island of Cape Verde I want to visit most. There are absolutely beautiful towns throughout the archipelago, and all surrounded by amazing scenery unlike most other islands. No palm trees or coconut imagery should come to mind with Cape Verde; there are deserts and tall sienna mountains instead, which are breathtaking. Sooner or later, I'll have to possible try to narrow down the islands for travel opportunities, but this place has huge potential for exploration and awe.
Mount Cameroon
Very large volcano, visible from over thirty miles away, possibly much more. It ranks about third or fourth in prominent mountains of Africa. I'd love to see a couple of the cities and towns that surround it as well, possibly one with a nice Atlantic view as well.
Angkor Wat
You might very well know what Angkor Wat is already: a big famous pretty-looking ancient Buddhist temple in Cambodia. Looks pretty neat, try googling for pictures of it if you haven't already.
Loma Mountains
I just found out about the Loma Mountains while looking near a point on the map in northeast Sierra Leone labeled "Bakando", which seems to have a very tall and pretty mountain to its south. The Loma Mountains look quite nice, and different from what you'd expect; I mean, mountains in West Africa? Who knew? A mountain called Mount Bintumani could be a beautiful place in this region.
By the way, the area in particular that I found are apparently known as the Tingi Hills.
Friday, September 23, 2011
Chocolate Hills
The Chocolate Hills of Bohol are pretty interesting features. Probably worth taking a look at someday.
Wednesday, September 21, 2011
American Samoa
American Samoa is the United States's only territory south of the Equator, and it's beautiful. Unlike many other Pacific islands, the terrain is amazing to look at. Mountain peaks are enormous and tall, and the green forests are everywhere, accompanied by the oceans, lakes, and harbors. A few islands have area included in the National Park of American Samoa, so it sounds quite easy to tell how well much of these islands have been preserved. Surely natural wonders abound here.

Peaks of Sindou
The Peaks of Sindou (Pics de Sindou) are a very impressive but little-known (so far) group of tall rock formations in southwestern Burkina Faso near the town of Sindou. I'd love to see these things popping up in the middle of West Africa. Their color makes them special among other rock formations of the world, as well.
also the nearby Domes de Fabedougou look cool too
also the nearby Domes de Fabedougou look cool too
Chudnite Skali
The Wonderful Rocks, or "Chudnite Skali" in Bulgaria, are a bunch of really cool rock formations along the Luda Chamchiya river in the province of Burgas. They are clearly visible from a road going right by the castle-looking things, and is only about a mile from a nearby town. It appears that some of these are open to the public as well, which could make more some neat perspectives.
Ulu Temburong
Ulu Temburong National Park in Brunei features very well preserved rainforest on Borneo. The main reason I'd like to see this one, apart from it being in such a small country, is that visitors can explore the scenery using the park's impressive system of bridges and boardwalks, including the famous Canopy Walkway. Definitely want to try this out and see the views it offers.
Thursday, September 15, 2011
Bijagos Islands
The Bijagos Islands, or Arquipelago dos Bijagos, of Guinea-Bissau look stunning from space, and pictures of these isolated places seem to reveal a look into history. I am surprised that I haven't earlier heard of this archipelago, but it's possible that since Guinea-Bissau is such an overlooked country, it's not well-known in my area. Upon discovering these islands, I hope to learn more about them from experience someday.
Dakar
Dakar is quite an interesting city from what I've learned of it. Geographically at the westernmost point of mainland Africa, it's on a very uniquely shaped peninsula. Artistically, it includes many nice examples of sculpture throughout the city. Also, there is an island called Goree that includes some of Senegal's French history and more art.
Monday, September 12, 2011
Liechtenstein
One of the world's smallest independent nations is actually comprised of a very pretty places, with mountains and fields below in the region of the Alps in Europe.
Friday, September 9, 2011
Plaza Moreno
I just discovered a lovely city square in La Plata, Argentina, called Plaza Moreno. There's a stunning cathedral on one side, and the Municipalidad on the other side, which I believe means City Hall. Both of these feature great architecture, and the skyscrapers in the background provide a lovely mix of traditional and modern.
Wednesday, September 7, 2011
Reunion
This is quite a majestic island from what I've just discovered of it. Magnificent canyons and peaks are the prime feature I'd like to witness on Reunion. There are also numerous waterfalls and other grand views around this French possession.

Gardner Pinnacles
The Gardner Pinnacles I found in the Hawaiian island chain looking for a spot of land in a certain zone of latitude and longitude. After looking into the shallow area for more research, I discovered these magnificent little rocks sticking up from the Pacific. I wonder if anyone's tried exploring it by foot (or climbing)? Still would be worth a visit, I think, if not just for the adventure of getting to them.
Monday, August 29, 2011
Pitcairn Island
These beautiful islands are home to less than a hundred people. The remarkable cliffs here and the lack of artificially being destroyed compared to other Pacific Islands would be something to attract me.
Thursday, August 25, 2011
Puerto Montt
Puerto Montt is a pretty big city, significant in its location. It is on the Pacific coast of Chile, to the west of the Andes Moutains. The bay there is quite large and interesting, with many chips coming in frequently, I assume from all the boat-related photographs from Puerto Montt. Calbuco and Osorno, two high mountains, are most likely visible at a distance to the northwest as well (which would also be super cool to see up closer!).

Alaska
So here's another month-long trip idea: visiting every borough in Alaska. There are almost thirty of them, so it would fit quite well for a month trip.
- Anchorage (Anchorage)
- Kenai Fjords National Park (Kenai Peninsula)
- Kodiak (Kodiak Island)
- Katmai National Park (Lake and Peninsula)
- Unalaska (Aleutians East) - (note: Unlaska looks REALLY pretty!)
- Attu Island (Aleutians West)
- King Salmon (Bristol Bay)
- Dillingham (Dillingham)
- Bethel (Bethel)
- Saint Mary's (Wade Hampton)
- Nome (Nome)
- Kobuk Valley National Park (Northwest Arctic)
- Barrow (North Slope)
- Gates of the Arctic National Park (Yukon-Koyukuk)
- Fairbanks (Fairbanks North Star)
- Yukon Charley Rivers National Preserve (Southeast Fairbanks)
- Denali National Park (Denali)
- Matanuska Glacier (Matanuska-Susitna)
- Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park (Valdez-Cordova)
- Yakutat (Yakutat)
- Admiralty Island (Hoonah-Angoon)
- Chilkat State Park (Haines)
- Skagway (Skagway)
- Juneau (Juneau)
- Sitka (Sitka)
- Petersburg (Petersburg)
- Wrangell (Wrangell)
- Misty Fjords (Prince of Wales-Outer Ketchikan) [update: Apparently, Misty Fjords is in the Ketchikan borough actually. :( ]
- Ketchikan (Ketchikan)
Any better suggestions than the ones I put? I just looked on the map for features for most of these, not being an experienced Alaskan.
Quime
Quime is a nice rural populated place east of La Paz, in a magnificent Andean valley, in the northern Cordillera Real to be more exact. To be honest, I really have no memory of why I decided a while ago to post Quime, but surely it's a neat place in some sense.
Salar de Uyuni
A huge area in southwestern Bolivia is sometimes desert and sometimes lake. When it's a lake, it's not very deep, but very flat at times, resulting in an amazing natural mirror or sorts, reflecting the nearby clouds and sky outstandingly well. Other times, when it is dry, the plain sight of miles and miles of plain salt flats is quite surrealistic in ways.
Islands of the Four Mountains
Specifically the Four Mountains islands, which I discovered browsing through the Aleutian Islands of Alaska, would be quite beautiful to see all together I imagine.
Marlborough Sounds
There are tons of interesting twists and turns that are too intricate to be seen on a map; even more unimaginable it must be actually present there, seeing all the amazing land and water features. Exploring them both terrestrially and aquatically seems like a must as well.
Saturday, May 14, 2011
Socotra
I've just discovered the southern coast of the main island of Socotra, a Yemeni territory off the coast of Africa. The southern beaches have an absolutely incredible view of a massive plateau to the north, which would most certainly be sight to see. The same beaches would also be quite a sight from the cliffs of the plateau as well.
Kangaroo Island
Just discovered this wonder-filled island in South Australia. It includes the Remarkable Rocks (which alone seem amazing enough for a visit), sand dunes, lookouts, lighthouses, and other geological features.
Fraser Island
I really don't remember what I found so amazing about Fraser Island; it looks like a plain old island from researching it again. Of course, there was probably I reason, so hey, here it is on the blog. Let me know if there is something super about this place that I haven't found yet. Please.

Pico da Neblina
Pico da Neblina is the highest point in Brazil. One interesting thing about this location is that is thousands of miles away from the big Brazilian cities. In fact, it's pretty much right on the border of Brazil and Venezuela, in Amazonas. Even better than its remote and unique jungle location is that it's also a very pretty mountain to look at; its prominence and steep grades are clearly visible from below, unlike many other mountains that only gradually slope up to the peak.
Brasilia
Brasilia has lots of cool buildings, and there seems to be a nice charm to it, since it's the capital city of Brazil. This also most likely means that there are lots of enjoyable cultural elements as a focus of the city, and from research one can see that this is true at least in its museums. I'm sure there's a nice Brazilian way of things in Brasilia, and touring the capital this way would be like a gallery of the nation in some ways I imagine.
Palacio de los López
In Paraguay's capital Asuncion, there's a government building called the Palacio de los López. It's a government palace with lots of history behind it, and a great find architecturally. Searching for pictures of it shows lots of impressive nighttime shots as well, and the lovely green grounds it's on contribute to its magnificence.
Avenida 9 de Julio
Basically an Argentinian version of Washington's National Mall, but surely that terrible description didn't express it very well. This street, Avenida 9 de Julio (or "July 9 Avenue", I assume), contains a monumentally monumental monument, the Buenos Aires obelisk. Also lined with many other buildings that I'm sure are of interest, it would be a high-priority stop if I was in the Buenos Aires area.
Cueva de las Manos
There's a cave thing in the province of Santa Cruz, Argentina, that's called the Cueva de las Manos. "Manos", in Spanish, means "hands". Basically, it's famous for its artistic-looking cave paintings/markings featuring tons of profiles of hands. Not sure why, but it sounds like worth a look. Definitely more interesting than the boring old Spanish-like writing here.
Also, the valley that the cave is located in is beautiful.
Easter Island
Most of you have probably seen images of the famous Moai statues of Easter island. While these are extremely significant and quite amazing features that surely I would love to see, I'm also curious to explore the other regions of the island such as all those green hills and mountains which I am sure must be beautiful.
Torres del Paine
I just discovered these awesome peaks in Chile called the Torres del Paine, probably somewhere in the Andes. They look really really cool and big.
South America is beginning to appear to have plenty of amazing things to see, much more than I originally knew of. Chile and Argentina are especially peaking my interest in this spectacular area of the world.
Thursday, April 7, 2011
Detian Waterfall
The Detian Waterfall is an absolutely amazing waterfall, on or near the Chinese-Vietnamese border. It's huge, gorgeous, and looks just plain amazing.
The scenery surrounding the area alone is gorgeous. Also, just looking at the scale of these falls is making me want to see more of China.

Jigme Dorji National Park
Jigme Dorji National Park contains beautiful mountain scenery, numerous lakes, and plenty of colorful grand monasteries. Along with the wildlife and its valley location in northwest Bhutan, these characteristics alone make this a unique place I'd certainly enjoying viewing.
Castle Harbour
Castle Harbour of Bermuda seems like a pretty place. It includes lots of tiny islands, within a tiny island country. Also, along the shallow colorful harbor are a castle or two, showing a bit of history as well.
Langelede
The Langelede is a canal in East Flanders that runs through the city of Wachtebeke. The reflections that are visible of its water at certain times are quite beautiful and make great photographs. There also appears to be a lovely walkway along much of the canal's route, which could be great for a scenic stroll.
Ruzhany Palace
While searching for points of interest in Belarus, I discovered a large but majestic set of ruins of an old palace in the city of Ruzhany. It is often called the Sapieha palace due to the family that seems to have owned it originally. Living in the New Mexico area, where ruins are plentiful, old stuff like this usually does not attract me, but the architecture of this estate and its size make this quite appealing even for me. Also attractive is that it's hard to find out much about Belarus. I tried to do a school report on that country once, and it was pretty difficult. A visit to this site could also teach its visitors more about this country's history.

Korab
I would like to explore the mountain area and valleys of Korab (a peak) in Macedonia. The landscape, terrain, and scenery of that area appears beautiful from the photographs other visitors here have shared.
Tuesday, March 8, 2011
Olympic National Park
I just saw a view of Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park, and it is now on my list of places to see. The view looked just that amazing even on photographs, and in real life it must be one of the most grand vistas one could ever see.
Further research shows that the area includes lakes, waterfalls, rivers, mountain trails, and all the time filled with outstanding scenery. More people should know about this place.
Saturday, February 26, 2011
Jervis Bay
Jervis Bay is the location of both a beautiful natural area (including an Australian national park) and a geographical oddity (it is its own separate territory largely unknown to many).
Tuesday, February 22, 2011
Ganvie
Ganvie is basically Africa's Venice, in that water transportation is huge in this community. Also, the entire town's architecture reflects its super unique location: a lake. Apparently this was for tribal land disputes or something like that, but however it happened, it would be something really cool to visit. The houses and businesses are largely located in buildings on stilts above the water surface. Imagine an entire city on a lake. Very neat if you ask me.

Ahsan Manzil
The Ahsan Manzil is a large palace-turned-museum in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is often called the Pink Palace due to its pink color.
A trip to Dhaka itself would be interesting (including the Bangladesh Parliament building that looks cool), considering the enormous population density there; and a visit to one of the country's most famous architectural treasures would be an interesting way to observe how this area of the world manages their monuments and landmarks.
Thursday, February 10, 2011
Bahrain
Bahrain is a tiny country, but a unique nation still. Modernization has come to this island area, along with unique city architecture. I'd like to check it out, especially with its Middle Eastern setting.
Schönbrunn Palace
I've come across a grand palace in Vienna, Austria. It is the centerpiece of an entire park, which includes many historic landmarks and structures, along with gardens, a museum, and a zoo. I'd definitely hope to visit this area if I'm ever in the Vienna area.

Auyuittuq
A trip to Auyuittuq was planned to see the Northern Lights, but in an area so beautiful that there would be an even more rewarding experience than just the aurora alone.
The enormous mountains and glaciers of Nunavut's Auyuittuq National Park appeared to be the greatest landscape for this purpose. Two of its huge peaks, Mount Thor and Mount Asgard, would be worth the visit by themselves.
Also, the park crosses the Arctic Circle, leading into the arctic region of the world that is so amazing due to its remoteness. Seeing even a little of all the beauty at Auyuittuq would be wonderful, and just browsing the stories of visitors makes me want to give glory to God. It would be a great blessing to see the creation there in that part of Baffin Island. I hope it will happen someday.

Dubai
Dubai is an emerging modern city in the United Arab Emirates. It includes many sights worth taking a look at, including an indoor ski resort, the world's tallest building (the Burj Khalifa), The World islands, the Palm islands, futuristic architecture, the Burj al Arab, and most certainly many more cool things.

San Antonio de Pichincha
The San Antonio parish is located north of Quito in the South American country Ecuador. It is visited quite often due to its various locations directly at the equator of the earth, exactly between the north and south poles. Destinations here I would like to see are the large equator monument Mitad del Mundo in the western part of the town, and the peak of Catequilla, which is equatorial but also has a nice view.
Dalton Highway
In Alaska, the Dalton Highway connects Fairbanks to a town called Deadhorse, which is within miles of the Arctic coast. The Dalton Highway passes along great wonders of Alaska; the enormous pipeline, the Brooks Range, the Arctic Circle, the Yukon River, and simply Alaskan scenery and wilderness itself. If a safe method of driving was established, this drive would certainly interest me greatly.

Churchill
I did a little browsing in a map of Canada while making up a story in which geography was highly prominent. Northern Manitoba was a key place in this plot, and a small label for Churchill caught my attention. I later did some research on this small town and it seems like a very charming village, though most likely very cold by the Hudson Bay, usually frozen in some form according to most pictures.
It appears that Churchill is not just a freezing settlement as many up there seem to be; it is also a major Arctic Ocean port location, and is nearby a historic fort by the Churchill River. It would certainly be a nice place to visit.

Tatev
This area in Armenia is home to quite a nice monastery in the hills, but this particular one stands out to me because of its position at the top of a huge beautiful gorge that is miles wide. The views from this old building must be spectacular, I imagine.
Nahuel Huapi
This enormous lake is like an inland Milford Sound of Argentina, but unique due to its different climate and Patagonian mountains. This national park (or "parque nacional") is apparently a popular location for newlyweds in the area, similar to Niagara Falls in the U.S.
The great mountains by the lake alone would be very beautiful, but even better are the extremely tall Andes mountains to the west. A place like this would most likely be amazing to visit.
English Harbour
English Harbour seems to be the most photographed place in Antigua. It must be quite a sight, however, due to the great amount of economic/naval activity that happens there, surrounded by all the natural beauty of the island and the surrounding sea.

Hoggar
The mountains and rock formations of Hoggar (or Ahaggar) in southern Algeria appear very unique, and for a location in the Sahara Desert it is quite intriguing from the photos I've seen.
Getting there would probably be a very memorable adventure as well.
Thethi
The Albanian Alps are awesome, and somehow I haven't been able to find any mountains like them anywhere but in Albania and nearby. This valley called Thethi has become a national park, and it is easy to see why. The area features these beautiful mountains, waterfalls, and also an old town in the middle of it all.
Ljubljana
Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, caught my attention by its unusually-spelled name (to an American, at least). I looked into the pronunciation of its name (LOO-blee-AW-nuh), and learned that saying it is quite fun. Ljubljana.
The city is located in quite a beautiful country, with the Kamniško-Savinjske Alpe mountains to the north and many others all around. Above the city is a castle with amazing views of the city. The city's main river is crossed by a few nice bridges, and the fact that the city is not as world-famous as others makes it a great place for random touring and enjoying.
Raas Caseyr

From what little information there is available about this point, it can be concluded that there are many sand dunes nearby, along with tall cliffs at the end of the continent. It seems that a visit to this spot would be worth a trip if it could be made safely.

Te Papa
The Museum of New Zealand, called "Te Papa" commonly, is quite a large collection of New Zealand's history and culture. It's located right by Wellington Harbour and is a uniquely built building itself.
While New Zealand is a beautiful country, it's history as one of the last colonized territories in the world makes it even more special. I'd love to see how Te Papa presents the nation's culture, especially that of the native Maoris.
Great Australian Bight cliffs
The cliffs located where South Australia and the Great Australian Bight meet appear spectacular. It makes me wonder why these are not yet considered natural wonders of the world. They are beautiful, and out in the middle of the long desert road these amazing views are less than a few miles away at some points.
I used to wonder if a trip to Australia would be worth the trouble, since Sydney, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Uluru area seem to be the only main attractions in the country, but after learning about these cliffs, it seems that visiting Australia should be a top traveling goal in this life.
Pólo Costa das Dunas
Pólo Costa das Dunas is basically the eastern coastal area of the Brazilian state Rio Grande do Norte. The main reason I'd like to visit this area is because of the amazing sand dunes in this area. The most famous of these dunes appear to be located by Natal.
Seeing the Atlantic from these dunes would be a pretty cool experience, considering that they're most definitely not the same old beaches you can find all along the coast.
La Moneda
The Palacio de La Moneda is the Chilean presidential palace in that country's capital Santiago. It is located in an area of the city with many tall buildings, and this makes its shorter size quite noticeable in comparison.
With so many large national flags outside, and the fact that it is such an influential place in the land makes this building possibly represent Chile quite well, almost screaming "Chile!" itself.
Bent Pyramid
Among the pyramids of Egypt, I just discovered that there are actually more than the famous three at Giza, and I'm disappointed that it was a surprise since that sort of indicates that quality that many Americans have, stereotyping and lack of information on foreign countries and cultures. Oh well; now I know.
Anyway, among the pyramids of Egypt I found this really cool one near Dahshur called the "Bent Pyramid". As you can see, if the picture hasn't been taken down yet, the pyramid's diagonal edges indeed appear bent. I find this really cool because it looks as if the structure is bulging out crazily, ready to burst.
Fès
After researching popular Moroccan destinations, it appears that the city Fès has plenty of interesting things to see.
Also called Fez (I use Fès since it's on the map I'm using), some interesting places to see there include:
- The Bab Bou Jeloud is an impressive-looking gate, which appears to be a main entrance of the "old city".
- The famous tannery in Fès is the setting of many photographs of the city's culture. Its method of coloring leather is depicted quite often.
- The Tombeaux des Mèridines is a tall tomb overlooking the medina on a hill great for viewing below.

La Ciotat
The main reason I'm interested in seeing this French city is because of two very large rock formations nearby it. One is the Bec de l'Aigle, which resembles the beak of an eagle (or so the title implies). The other is the Cap Canaille, which I do not know much about other than it appears to be quite popular among photographers.
