Wind Cave National Park
There's a cave here, but the land on the surface is likely a beautiful place to explore, with plains land preserved.

Rosh HaNikra
Rosh HaNikra appears to be a location of white coastal rocks, which look pretty. It appears that one can tour within some of these structures, too, in cave-like openings which offer more colorful views. Another interesting thing about this place is its location, pretty much right on the Israel-Lebanon border. However, it looks like the main way to get to the good part of this place is via Israel.

Dune of Pilat
A big, tall sand dune on the coast of southwestern France. It seems to even have a stairway to the top, haha.

Custer State Park
Harney Peak is the highest point in South Dakota, in the scenic Black Hills. The view from here is probably amazing. There is also an epic-looking tower atop the mountain.
Also in Custer SP, there's Sylvan Lake which looks neat with all those rocks around.

Nihoa
This island, far from the main 8 of Hawaii, looks really neat. Its land slopes like an enormous slide, and its cliffs appear as if the whole island was an intricate sculpture. Seems like it'd be a worthwhile stop if I was in the area of these outer Hawaiian Islands.
Kalandula Falls
A pretty big, pretty-looking waterfall in Angola.
Tristan da Cunha
One of the most isolated places on the earth, population-wise. Also beautiful.
Cape Horn
It seems that Cape Horn is the southernmost trip of South America. The name sounds familiar, so it's probably quite a famous location among explorers. The scenery here looks mountainous and peaceful (on land).
Hobbiton
This I guess is the filming place for certain scenes in "Lord of the Rings" movies. This could be on the rise as a New Zealand tourist attraction.

Zion National Park
Zion National Park's got some really cool red rocks and rivers and other really neat scenery. The landscape here could be compared to walking on a street underneath the tops of skyscrapers... but likely way neater.
Great Basin National Park
Great Basin National Park is in the Great Basin Desert (I think) in Nevada... and there's a glacier on the tallest mountain in the park, Wheeler Peak (I think). Cool, huh? This mountain does look quite pretty, and its interesting location out there seems to give it a certain charm added. There are also little lakes and a natural arch. Some of these places could be very tough to get to, which could be fun perhaps. :)
Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Cuyahoga Valley National Park is located in an urban area of Ohio, around the area of Akron and Cleveland, which alone is interesting. Inside the park, there seem to be various things to do for fun. There are waterfalls and bridges and trails and overlooks. I could probably spend a happy day touring this park.
Channel Islands
The Channel Islands of California appear to offer some beautiful scenery. Getting here could be an adventure, but there are likely plenty of wonders to see.
Northern Outer Banks
Particularly, two places: Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills. Historically, the Wright Brothers flight place could be a neat trip. And touristily, Kitty Hawk might be fun to hang out at.
Chimney Rock State Park
Huh. Another place called "Chimney Rock" in the United States. This one's in North Carolina, and it look likes the top of it is not only accessible, but also has quite a lovely view below of the forested land.
Sunday, November 25, 2012
Ethipothala Falls
Yes, another waterfall thing. This one's in Andhra Pradesh. The place looks pretty, though.
Mawlynnong
Mawlynnong is in one of the world's rainiest areas on land, somewhat near Cherrapunji. Something I'd like to check out around here (if it's a good day for it) are the "root bridges", which look like structures out of a fantasy world.
Pangong Tso
Pangong Lake in the Kashmir/Xizang area is surrounded by beautiful mountains that seem pretty much bare of trees. These mountains are huge, as well as the lake, and the colors here make the scene look very grand.
Khajjiar
This place in northern India is basically a beautiful setting. A flat green meadowy place with a lake at the bottom, and mountains around and above.
Matheran
I'm not exactly sure what this place in the Sahyadri Mountains is (a city? a park? a mountain?), but it does look pretty. It appears to be located on top of a mesa-like piece of land, which means there are a bunch of places to see views of the area below and in the distance, probably. There may even be a place that offers a view of Mumbai (likely a nighttime view of the city lights).
Golden Temple
In Amritsar, Punjab, India, there's a temple thing. Seems like "Sikhism Central". Might be neat to see, though.
Cocora Valley
Colombia's "Valle del Cocora" has rolling hills with a bunch of tall wax palm trees decorating the area. It looks very pretty, and seems like a very unique spectacle.
Tuesday, November 20, 2012
Spitzkoppe
This Namibian place has got a big arch and cool-looking mountains and stuff, I guess. It actually does look neat.
Siwa
This place in western Egypt is known for its oasis thing. It's got that, and history, and it's in the Sahara, so it's likely interesting enough to check out... maybe.
Oribi Gorge
This gorge in KwaZulu-Natal looks very pretty. Facilities here also provide some cool ways to experience the ditch, including a neat bridge over it, and something that might be the world's highest swing (whether it holds the record or not, whoa!).
Ol Doinyo Lengai
This volcano in northern Tanzania looks cool. Looking at the tall volcano from nearby looks cool, and the top of it up close also seems to look cool.
Empakaai Crater
This crater (which I assume is volcanic) of Empakaai in northern Tanzania has a lake inside it. And this place looks wonderfully beautiful. Looking round from within and from the rim is very likely to offer spectacular views.
Matobo National Park
This Zimbabwean national park has neat rock formations, including some of its famous "Balanced Rocks" I think, and, it seems, great views of them scattered throughout a large area.
Nabuiyatom
This crater of the Teleki Volcano around the southern tip of Lake Turkana in Kenya looks kinda neat where it is. It might be tough to find a good view of it from the ground, but why not try?
Bukavu
Bukavu is a city in eastern Congo-Kinshasa along Lake Kivu, near the Rwandan border. An interesting feature of this place is a peninsula that sticks out into the lake, of which there may be neat views.
Lake Assal
Lake Assal looks neat from space. It might look neat from the ground. Oh yeah, it's a salty lake with a salty-looking beach, among the mountains (or maybe rocky hills) of Djibouti.
Erta Ale
In Ethiopia's Danakil Desrt, there's a lava lake.
Blue Nile Falls
These big falls apparently have been affected by a dam project in Ethiopia. The setting of the Blue Nile Falls looks quite pretty, I think, with or without its natural flow rate.

Bhedaghat
These "Marble Rocks" at Bhedaghat around Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, seem to look quite impressive, with tall multicolored rock and a flowing river going through them. There seem to be other natural features nearby, like a balancing rock and a waterfall.
Sanchi
There are some archaeological thingamajigs here that look like half-spheres. I'm guessing they're called "stupas", from the websites I've checked out. Apparently they have something to do with Buddhism. The big one just kinds looks interesting; all domey and carvey.
Hyderabad
Hyderabad has at least a couple things that look cool enough to check out. the Golconda Fort and the Charminar. The fort looks neat with its multiple structures and stairways and pathways and such. The Charminar looks like the city's iconic structure, like Paris's Eiffel Tower or Sydney's Sydney Opera House.
Also, there are tombs that seem to be of the old kings of the Qutub Shahi dynasty (not that I know what that is). Perhaps I should study Indian history.
Also, there are tombs that seem to be of the old kings of the Qutub Shahi dynasty (not that I know what that is). Perhaps I should study Indian history.
Gateway of India
In Mumbai, this arch thing was apparently built for the visit of some royalty. Located near the water in the city, it seems like a cool icon of this huge city. It also seems to be located near the tacky-sounding "Taj Mahal Hotel", heheh.
Timbuktu
It seems that this Malian city (aka Tomboctou, I think) is often mentioned as a joke, since it's so remote from so many places. There's actually some fairly interesting history here I think, as well as the interesting-looking Sancore Mosque. Also, it may be kinda cool to say one's been to Timbuktu.
Saturday, November 17, 2012
Mount Paektu
Mount Paektu, also called a bunch of other things (that was a confusing search; I don't feel I got conclusive results still) like Changbaishan or Baitou, I think, is kinda pretty despite the political and geographical confusion. It's got a lake near the top of the mountain, which is interestingly divided between China and North Korea.

El Arco de Cabo San Lucas
El Arco, or Land's End I suppose, looks pretty neat, at around the southern tip of the Baja peninsula of Mexico. There are neat rock formations and a pretty-looking arch.
Torre de Hercules
This lighthouse in northwest Spain was apparently first built by the Romans quite some time ago. Its grounds look quite pretty, and the rocky-looking coast nearby as well.
Brimham Rocks
A bunch of unusual-lookin' rocks in northern England.
Sunday, November 4, 2012
Natural Bridge
This natural bridge in Virginia kinda seems like an odd place to find a natural bridge, with all those famous ones in Utah and such. It does look kinda pretty, though, I think. Also, Foamhenge seems to be nearby.
Enchanted Highway
In North Dakota, there's this kind of sculpture gallery along a rural highway. It interests me slightly since it's something in North Dakota, which doesn't seem very popular with tourists on average.
Saturday, November 3, 2012
Normandy
The historic significance of what happened at Normandy, France, seems to make some places here an interesting visit. At Pointe du Hoc, there are views of the ocean, as well as of numerous craters from bombs, I assume. Nearby to the east is what seems to be quite a large cemetery and a memorial.

This area of sand dunes in northern Maranhão is famous for its pools of water below the dunetops, which make for an interesting pictures of many curves of sand and spots of water.
Las Lajas Sanctuary
This cathedral-like building is famous for its picturesque qualities, with a lovely-looking bridge with tall arches high above a river below.
Thursday, November 1, 2012
Guggenheim Bilbao
This building's famous, 'cause it's all twisty and such, I guess. It's kinda fun being irreverent about these big attractions, heh.

The water of Lake Retba (or is it Lac Rose?) in Senegal appears pink or purple. Seems like an interesting scene to view, with the surreal-looking color.
Chand Baori
This Rajasthan archaeological site (I think) features some very M.C. Escher-like stairways. Lots and lots of steps. It's a well of sorts, apparently. Looks pretty neat.

Spinnaker Tower
This tower in Portsmouth might look a bit Dubai-ish for England, but it does appear cool.
Aparados da Serra
This national park in southern Brazil (I think) features cliffsides which look pretty spectacular, I think. It appears to be the edge of a very large plateau suddenly collapsing on the land's way to the ocean.
Two sights in or near this national park to see might include the Fortaleza Canyon, which appears to have a magnificent view of the rim of this plateau from one side to the other, and Itaimbezinho, which is another canyon I think with a waterfall (or multiple falls) and tall walls likely.

Macapá is a city in northern Brazil that basically is located directly along the equator of the earth. There's even a fairly neat looking monument by a stadium that is located in both the northern and the southern hemispheres. There's probably other stuff to do here.
Tiwanaku
Some archaeological site with I guess not much known about it.
Ingapirca
Ingapirca is an archaeological site in Ecuador, apparently Incan or something. Its tall spiral-like tower is particularly interesting, and the beige colors of the wall-stuff seem to contrast well with the green floor.
Devil's Island
This island of French Guiana has a history of being the site of an apparently pretty severe prison area. The ruins and remaining structures now look interesting, and it looks like a fairly peaceful place with the exotic-looking tall green plants.
Ciudad Perdida
This archaelogical site seems tough to get to, but pretty.
Perito Moreno Glacier
This glacier is one of the most famous natural wonders of Argentina. Its surrounding national park likely offers some lovely scenes.

Saint Petersburg
Saint Petersburg has some various attractions that might collectively be worth checking out, like Petrovorets, the Hermitage, some palace, and the style of architecture in the city.
Stone Forest
The Stone Forest of Shilin in Yunnan appears to be a top destination in the area. There seem to be many karst formations in a pretty setting, with water and walkaways and places to look. It does look peaceful, and it may be a very nice tour.
Xi'an
The Xi'an area's got the Terracotta Warriors. These things are pretty famous for being what they are, I guess.
It's also got a city wall I think, which seems like a nice walk or ride.
It's also got a city wall I think, which seems like a nice walk or ride.
108 Dagobas
One hundred eight of these things called "dagobas" are apparently arranged in a triangular fashion in an area in Ningxia. The purpose behind these things seems to be unknown or mysterious. They look kinda cool too.
Western Xia Tombs
These tombs around or in Yinchuan look like beehive-ish mounds. Kinda interesting.
Macau
Macau is a formerly Portuguese city-thing in southern China, with a similar political status as Hong Kong. Economic activity seems to do well here, and the culture here is likely interesting and unique.
Harbin
Harbin, China, is well-known for its ice-themed attractions and/or festival(s). Images of very colorfully-lit buildings at night make this place look fairly attractive. Not sure if it's year-round or just in winter, but it looks like a sight to see. Also, on a sadder note, there's a historic site from the Japanese occupation period where there were some terrible deaths that might be worth visiting.
Grampians
The Grampians seems to be a sudden bunch of mountain crests that appear among flat land in Australia's Victoria. The valleys and crests here look like somewhere with great opportunities for grand views.

Cape Le Grand National Park looks nice. It's on the southern coast of Western Australia. Beach, rock, etc.
Perth
Perth is one of the world's most isolated major cities, and there seems to be a lot to do here and around here, including the nice-looking Kings Park with some good views, the Perth Mint, a marine park, and John Forrest National Park (with kangaroos, heh). The skyline itself looks nice, too, I think.

Sable Island
Sable Island, which I think is part of Nova Scotia, is a preservation area with birds and horses living there to my knowledge. The isolation and general ignorance (it seems) of Sable Island are somewhat attractive, as well as the chance to visit a difficult latitude-longitude location. :)
Bay of Fundy
There seem to be multiple places to check out the Bay of Fundy coast, a pretty area as well as the site of an interesting phenomenon: some of the world's most extreme tides. Fundy National Park includes some beautiful scenery of forest and shore, including waterfalls and what I think is a covered bridge. The Hopewell Rocks are nearby to the east.
Point Pelee
Point Pelee National Park includes the southernmost point of Canadian territory, but also some pretty landscapes and trails. The national park appears to include Middle Island, the not-as-accessible-but-more-accurate southernmost point of Canada, I think.
Big Nickel
In Sudbury,Ontario, there's a museum-thing called Dynamic Earth, which looks interesting itself, but a particularly interesting thing there is an outdoor replica of a Canadian nickel coin. It's called... the "Big Nickel".
National Library of Belarus
The National Library of Belarus in Minsk has a large geometrically-shaped feature (some kind of modified -hedron or something... it's got a name I think) as its main visual interest, it seems. The scenery around Minsk also looks odd, possibly due to the strange-ish cruel-ish government they appear to have.
Tuesday, October 9, 2012
Bamiyan
Afghanistan's Bamiyan Valley features a neat-looking carved thing in a mountainside that I think used to house a Buddha statue, probably also carved from the rock. The Buddha thing seems to have been destroyed, but the large feature in the mountain still looks interesting to me.

Helgoland
This German island includes reddish sandstone formations. That seems interesting: red sandstone rocks on an island??? In Germany??????? Seems like an odd but pretty sight. :D
Wednesday, October 3, 2012
Sanqingshan
Sanqing Mountain, and its accompanying terrain, in Jiangxi Province, looks amazing and wonderful. This place appears like really tall chess pieces being used on a bowl surface that one can't see... or something like that, maybe. Whatever a weird analogy, these surreal-looking peaks appear worth a visit.
Manawaiopuna Falls
Yes, another waterfall. This one's on Kauai, Hawai'i, and looks really pretty. Not only is it in a jungle-like place, but its shape also looks beautiful, stretching out into a seemingly thicker width of branches of water flow.
Dean's Blue Hole
This "blue hole" in the Bahamas is apparently one of the deepest in the world. It looks pretty and seems cool. Not sure who Dean is.

These big Arizona falls (which seem to be muddy often) might be only active sometimes, but they look like a neat place to see.
Gullfoss
Gullfoss Falls is a beautiful-looking waterfall in Iceland that empties into a somewhat-hidden canyon, so there are likely some neat photo ops. Even without the maybe-illusion, it looks pretty.
Tiger and Turtle
If I included Spoonbridge and Cherry, I can likely also include this "Tiger and Turtle - Magic Mountain" sculpture thing. It seems to be basically a set of stairs that looks like a rollercoaster track. It seems big and weird, so why not check it out.
Seongsan Ilchulbong
If I'm describing it correctly, Jeju-do's Seongsan Ilchulbong is a volcanic cone peninsula with a large grassy crater. It looks quite like a bowl of moss, and it appears to have a tradition associated with the sunrise attached to it. The feature itself looks large and amazing.

Wolfe Creek Crater
This crater, classified as an impact crater I guess, seems cool. Aside from being a crater, it's also got a kind of three-ring design, it appears: a dark rim, a beige desert interior, with a green center. It seems that a crater has its own cute widdle biosphere or something. Aww.
Bungle Bungles
The Bungle Bungles, or Purnululu, are some multicoloredly-striped rock things that look pretty cool in the outback of Western Australia.

The Columbia River Gorge area of Oregon and Washington, has an iconic scene of a bridge with the magnificent Multnomah Falls in the background on the Oregon side. Also nearby is the Oneonta Gorge, which features a seemingly very wet journey through the bottom of a gorgeous green-walled chasm to a tall lovely waterfall.

Korean Demilitarized Zone
Visiting border locations (safely and legally, of course) along the Korean DMZ might be quite an interesting experience. I'm particularly interesting in the Conference Room where visitors are allowed to cross the border staying inside the room (if that's still an option). Seeing the North Korean flagpole, likely the tallest in the world, might also be neat.

Seoraksan National Park appears to be quite popular, with neat things to do, and it seems like a beautiful place, with mountains and interesting terrain.
Bukhansan
Bukhansan National Park appears to be located pretty much in or by the huge urban area of Seoul. The bare rocks of the mountain(s) and the surrounding scenery look quite different than most mountains here in North America I've seen, and the colors of it look nicely done, too.
Saturday, September 15, 2012
Cape Perpetua
This coastal area of Oregon is reportedly quite scenic. Also, a "Spouting Horn" around here is reportedly quite a show at certain times of tidal activity.
Manpupuner
There are quite interesting rock formations, which are quite large, in a site called Manpupuner in Russia's Komi Republic. They're also called the "Seven Giants" or "Seven Strong Men", I think. They're big, weird, and cool-looking, so it seems worth checking out.
Friday, September 14, 2012

Montzeuma Castle
I've seen a few cliff dwellings and such, but this one looks bigger and prettier, architecture-wise.
Devils Postpile
This place in California is another seemingly tough-to-get-to NPS unit, but the main feature, a something-gonal basalt cliff or something, looks worth seeing.
North Cascades National Park
This national park may be one of the most difficult national park units in the NPS to visit, mainly because the easy-to-get-to area isn't really in the National Park boundaries. Just crossing into the park could be a pleasant hike with a nice goofy motive.
Los Alamos
The Los Alamos area of northern New Mexico seems to have multiple interesting things to see/do. The city of Los Alamos itself has a few museums, I believe, and a nice downtown area, and a bridge overlooking a gorge I think. Nearby is White Rock, where a spot overlooking the Rio Grande I think is maintained and well-known. West of Los Alamos is the Valles Caldera, a beautiful area in a place designated as a supervolcano. The beauty is the more attractive part, not the volcano thing. And nearby is Bandelier National Monument, with remains of an ancient settlement or two, I think.
Castle Crags
The Castle Crags area is a place with cragged (or whatever word I'm looking for maybe) mountaintops that look neat, I think, in Northern California.

Sacsayhuaman
This seems to be some old fortress or monument from Incan Empire. The large scale of the stones used to build it appears to be the main attraction, and it really does look impressive from the pictures I've seen.

Atlantic Road
The Atlantic Road in Norway travels to multiple islands, goes over some of the Atlantic Ocean, and includes some bridges, one of them an iconic wavy bridge, I think.

Washington, D.C.
Washington, the capital city of the United States, has a bunch of very interesting things. I have been here before, but didn't get to see everything I wanted to see. I'd definitely be interested in coming here again to see a lot more.
Haleakala
The view from Haleakala is reported to be stunning.
New River Gorge
West Virginia's New River Gorge looks beautiful. The impressive New River Gorge Bridge would likely be one of the main attractions here for me.
Charleston
Charleston, West Virginia, includes its state's capitol building, which is located by a river and below the mountains, which likely makes for a great picture.
Mount Katahdin
Mount Katahdin is one of the endpoints of the Appalachian Trail, and the views from here are probably great.
Indianapolis Monument Circle
Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis seems like a nice place to see. Inside the circle is a monument, and surrounding the circle are some buildings, some of which look tall and cool in my opinion.
Lookout Mountain
Lookout Mountain overlooks Chattanooga, and it seems to be rumored that one can see seven U.S. states from here.
Stone Mountain
Stone Mountain is a huge sculpture/carving/art work thing in Georgia that seems to be pretty famous. The rock itself looks pretty interesting, and it appears to be enormous. The art depicts Confederate figures or something, I think, but it's mainly the fame and the scale that are interesting I think. And perhaps the ride to the top that I think exists.
Biltmore Estate
Biltmore Estate is one of the largest homes in the United States. The grounds and the mansion itself look like a beautiful location.
KVLY-TV Tower
The KVLY-TV Tower near Blanchard, North Dakota, at the moment is recorded as the United States's tallest manmade structure. For a while, I think it was the world's tallest manmade structure, until the Burj Khalifa was built.
Mount Saint Helens
Mount Saint Helens was the location of one of the largest observed volcanic eruptions in recent history. It also seems huge, and among some beautiful landscape.
Mitchell Corn Palace
Mitchell, South Dakota, probably gets most of its fame from its "Corn Palace". Why not.
Chimney Rock
Chimney Rock is a famous tall rock formation or something like that in Nebraska. Considering how flat this area is, it might be a neat thing to see.
Geographic Center of the Contiguous United States
Near or in Lebanon, Kansas, there's this odd little area with a monument near the geographic center point of the conterminous United States, I think. It's probably not in the exact spot, but it's kinda interesting. There once was a chapel here that I think was the very one featured on the Kansas flag.
Spoonbridge and Cherry
One day on that Google Maps April 1st thing that looked like a video game, I found out about this sculpture called "Spoonbridge and Cherry", in Minneapolis. It was interesting enough, I think, to include on this blog.
Republic of Molossia
The "Republic of Molossia" is an area that a resident of Dayton, Nevada, claims as its own nation. According to its website, it seems that he's added a customs station, a monument, a memorial, a railroad, and a park. It looks like he calls his house the "Government House", and seems to have put up a boundary marker. A tour from the "President" could be fun.
Rachel
Rachel, Nevada, is near one of the top subjects of conspiracy theories and reported extraterrestrial activity (I think), a restricted area known as Area 51. I'm guessing that some businesses in Rachel have capitalized on this, and one might meet some interesting folks here too. It could be amusing, and a visit here could also be included on a journey through the sparse mountainous area of Nevada desert.
Glen Canyon
The colors of Glen Canyon look quite unique, and there are also a bridge and a famous dam in the area that could make for a neat sight.
Roswell
Roswell, New Mexico, seems to have one of the stranger reasons for tourism: a reported nearby extraterrestrial UFO crash or something in 1947, I think. Imaginably, some businesses play along, such as the local McDonald's, Walmart, and a UFO Museum. It could be amusing.
Badwater Basin
Badwater Basin, if I remember correctly, is the lowest point in the United States, located in California's Death Valley. This, as well as the interesting scene with mountains along the horizon and a bright salty-looking surface stretching for miles, could make an interesting stop.
Capulin Volcano
New Mexico's Capulin Volcano seems oddly placed, but still seems interesting, since for some reason (I assume) it's a National Monument of the U.S. National Park Service.

Babylon
Visiting the site of ancient Babylon might be a very interesting and eerie experience. It appears to play a very large role specifically in Biblical events, and in general history as well.
Persepolis
Persepolis seems to be one of the most influential cities of ancient history.
Coyote Buttes
In the Coyote Buttes, which I think are located in both Arizona and Utah, there is a feature called "The Wave" that looks fantastically beautiful. Here, it appears that there are grooves or waves going through the sandstone slopes of the Buttes in a spectacular fashion.
Hamilton Pool
In Texas, there's an interesting body of water called the Hamilton Pool. The photos seem to be exaggerative, so I'm not sure how impressive this place may actually be, but it seems that the outside shore of the lake is located in a Pantheon-like natural structure, with a magnificent round window of rock above. And of course, there's a waterfall here too I think, which seems to be described as cool.
Wulingyuan
The Wulingyuan area of China includes some amazing scenery, including the Tianzi Mountains that look more like pillars than mountains. The beauty of this area looks promising as an incredible destination.
Twelve Apostles
Don't why these things are called the Twelve Apostles, but they do seem quite neat. In the Australian state of Victoria, in the Indian (or is it the Pacific) Ocean... maybe the Great Australian Bight... these rock formations off the coast appear to be some very tall islands. Seen from the rim of the "mainland", or from the beach at the bottom, they're probably one of the natural treasures of Australia.
Borobudur
Borobudur is a Buddhist temple or monument or something in Indonesia, which itself is kinda creepy, but the structure looks kinda impressive. I'm partly including this since I don't have very much in Indonesia on this blog at the moment.
Meteora
Meteora is an area of Greece with large and tall interesting rock formations, known as a monastery location. It looks quite a spectacle, possibly a wonder of Europe.

Nuuk
Nuuk is the capital of Greenland, and probably the largest city/town in Greenland as well. Most Greenland towns look very cute and nice, with their colorful buildings and beautiful scenery, and Nuuk seems to have that as well as more advanced elements characteristic of a capital city, like a stadium, a university, and such.
Tasermiut Fjord
The mountains around the Tasermiut Fjord in southern Greenland look quite impressive for their height and their vertical slopes. Beneath, there appears to be a valley of green, and combined, the landscape looks fantastical.
Faroe Islands
I tried to make this entry more specific, but I found a bunch of beautiful scenes from the Faroe Islands. The cliffs look amazing, the towns (Klaksvik, Torshavn, etc.) look charming, and both of those elements seem to work together in fairly all right harmony. The whole place seems worth the travel.
Catatumbo
Around the area where the Catatumbo River enters Lake Maracaibo, a strange natural phenomenon is reported to happen. A spectacular lightning show, with perhaps 30 strikes a minute, happens most every night, if these reports can be believed.

Saint Pierre and Miquelon
Saint Pierre and Miquelon, for some strange reason, belongs to France. It's mainly comprised of two islands, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, that are off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. The French influence here, in this small-looking place, could be a neat cultural observation. The island of Miquelon looks cartographically lovely because of its thin isthmus, and it seems to have rolling hills that could possibly be great for roaming around.
Tromelin Island
Tromelin Island is a tiny, probably unpoopulated, island in the Indian Ocean that belongs to France. There are quite a few of these kind of islands in the world, but this one just looks unique for some reason. Its sand seems quite prevalent on the island, and there doesn't seem to be much vegetation here compared to other small islands. Also interesting is the lone airstrip. Weird.
Pointe des Châteaux
Guadeloupe's main island's easternmost point seems to have an interesting rocky peninsula at the very end. It reminds me of the Cadillac Ranch in Texas, but this is obviously more... natural. A beach view of this and a mountain view of this could both be promising.
Bora Bora
Bora Bora is a world-famous (or maybe United States-famous) island in French Polynesia. It's likely very touristy, but the natural scenery here looks amazing. The clear water, the various vivid colors, and the impressive peaks like the amazing Mount Otemanu, all easily make my list of things to see.
Mangareva
Mangareva is a pretty island in French Polynesia's Gambier Islands. Its peaks like Mount Duff look like a nice place to climb and see the view below from. The villages look charming as well.
Guiana Space Center
The Spaceport in French Guiana is an interesting destination to me mainly because of its location. It's in France, but it's in that odd part of France that's in South America. Interesting that the European Space Agency uses a South America launch site.
Possession Island
Possession Island has some amazing scenes. The mountains and coastline look beautiful, and seeing this island from the top of the shoreline cliffs of nearby East Island would likely be a great sight. It appears to also be a good spot to see a huge bunch of penguins, maybe if the time is right, since it's closer to Antarctica than other places.
Monday, August 6, 2012
Saint Helena
The island of Saint Helena looks like a beautiful island, and one with an interesting history. I'd say it seems like a great place to tour. Jamestown has a tall staircase (I think) nicknamed (maybe) "Jacob's Ladder". Napoleon had an interesting history there, I think. There's a gorgeous waterfall landscape, and nice mountainous terrain. Worth a visit, I think.
Plymouth
Plymouth was a community that was very visibly affected by a volcano flow recently. Now, it's probably one of the rare sights in the world: a Caribbean island town that looks like a post-apocalyptic scene. Probably an interesting place to visit.
Friday, July 27, 2012
Arecibo Observatory
This observatory/telescope-thing is huge, and probably an interesting place to visit. Seeing this massive structure alone would likely be neat, but the surrounding Puerto Rican mountains and forest might also be a nice addition. I think there's a visitor center at the observatory, too!
Two Lovers' Point
Guam's outlook point called Two Lovers' Point seems to have quite a nice view. Apparently, the waves below sometimes form a heart-like shape, which is kind of cute. The views of the island from here are likely the main attraction, though.
Kalaupapa
The Kalaupapa Peninsula of Molokai is interesting for two reasons. One reason is its interesting historical background as a leper colony. Another reason, probably less known and appreciated, is its status as the smallest county in the United States by some definitions (maybe).
Also, this place is tough to get to, and views of the cliffs to the south from here I'm curious to see.
Also, this place is tough to get to, and views of the cliffs to the south from here I'm curious to see.
Halawa Valley
Halawa Valley is a very green (forested, jungled, or something) valley in eastern Molokai. There are some impressive waterfalls visible from here.

Dry Valleys
The Dry Valleys of Antarctica look quite extraterrestrial, y'know, for a place on Earth. It appears to be basically some of the few (or only) places on Antarctica that aren't covered by snow. The mountains look beautiful, and walking on the dry surface here might be an amazing experience. There are also bodies of water such as lakes, which might behave strangely depending on the weather when one visits.
Chimanimani Mountains
These mountains have waterfalls and are themselves fairly interesting to look at, I think. The colors here, along with the grand terrain, might make for some excellent vistas.
Great Zimbabwe
These ruins are apparently famous enough to name an entire country after them. I assume they're historical and big.
Halong Bay
Halong Bay may be Vietnam's most famous natural wonder. I think it even got featured on that big poll of natural wonders recently.
So many islands, mountains, peninsulas, and water to look at here! (also "Bai Tu Long Bay" to the northeast might be a good less touristy alternative which also looks impressive)
So many islands, mountains, peninsulas, and water to look at here! (also "Bai Tu Long Bay" to the northeast might be a good less touristy alternative which also looks impressive)
Cerro Autana
Cerro Autana is an impressively-shaped tepui in southern Venezuela. The colors and shapes here look like a masterpiece of creation.
Yasur
Yasur is a famous volcano, very active I think, on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu. The fiery colors of a nighttime eruption might be quite a neat sight, though I wouldn't want to go into too much danger.
Monday, July 23, 2012
Punta del Este
"La Mano", a sculpture representation of a hand, or something, is a famous place in Punta del Este, Uruguay. I understand this is a small, insignificant, weird thing to list on this list, but... here it is.
Another, bigger, place to visit around Punta del Este is Casa Pueblo, which reminds me of Santorini in Greece. I kind of like the way it looks in pictures better in some ways, though, I think, maybe.
Another, bigger, place to visit around Punta del Este is Casa Pueblo, which reminds me of Santorini in Greece. I kind of like the way it looks in pictures better in some ways, though, I think, maybe.
Saint Kilda
Saint Kilda is an island, which I think is included in the Outer Hebrides. It's got those lovely-looking green hills, and some old stone structures that I assume are very, very old. And even if they're no,t they look really neat on this isolated-like island. There are totally some great views available here, I think.
Giant's Causeway
The Giant's Causeway is a very famous location in Northern Ireland. It's a curiosity of nature, with hexagonally-shaped pieces of rock or something. Hmm, it actually does look kinda cool! Also, the visitor center/centre looks kinda cool too.
Fujairah Fort
In Fujairah, there is a large old fort structure, and much of its history seems unknown. It was recently restored, and it looks kinda nice.

Hoverla
Ukraine's highest point, Hoverla, is part of the Carpathian Mountains. It's covered with green (or white in winter, I suppose), and there are bright flowers around here as well. The area near the top looks especially beautiful, with rolling topography and such.
Cape Fiolent
Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula's Cape Fiolent's scenery's viewing opportunities look excellent. The rocky coast it's part of looks like a neat place to walk around.
UPDATE 3/23/2014: Might not de facto count as Ukraine anymore.
UPDATE 3/23/2014: Might not de facto count as Ukraine anymore.
Rwenzori Mountains
The Rwenzori Mountains appear to be quite a unique mountainous area. The African plantlife here looks fantastical, and the snow here would possibly be considered misplaced in the jungle areas of Africa. There are waterfalls and rock features I think, and overall it looks like a beautiful place.
Murchison Falls
Uganda's Murchison Falls look pretty, and they seem neat enough to have a national park named for them.
Funafuti
Funafuti is the main atoll of Tuvalu, hosting its capital and its largest population (I think). Tuvalu's main government building looks quite nice, and the great length of the islands' large "arms" might be an interesting journey.
Darvaza Gas Crater
Near Darvaza in Turkmenistan is a crater that is known for being quite a fiery sight at night. Apparently, there was a gas accident here a long time ago, and the resulting burning hasn't yet stopped.
Cappadocia
Cappadocia, Goreme, whatever. It's got very odd terrain, and some home seem to have been built out of the very odd terrain as well. Interesting enough for me, I think.
Tamerza
In the area of a place called Tamerza in Tunisia are a few nice-looking places. There is a canyon in a nearby place called Mides, and an oasis in another nearby place called Chebika. Tamerza itself, appearing to be in a gorge of its own, also looks interesting.

Mont Saint Michel
Mont Saint Michel is known for a castle-like structure on an elevated piece of terrain on a scenic peninsula area. Not sure exactly what it is, but it really does look cool, and I probably wouldn't be disappointed at the way it looks.
Delhi
This was originally a "Red Fort" post, but I've since found out that there's other neat stuff in Delhi. There's the Red Fort which is large, impressive, and reddish. There's the tomb of Humayun, one of those Mughal emperors (learned that from Britannica). There's the Parliament building, or the Lok Sabha building, or the Gandhi stuff like Raj Ghat, or something. There's this mall-like thing which features the Presidential building, a big spire/column, and at least one museum it seems.
Delhi seems to be quite an important city, and there seems to be a lot of neat stuff to look at here.
Delhi seems to be quite an important city, and there seems to be a lot of neat stuff to look at here.
Great Blue Hole
The Great Blue Hole is pretty much that. Off the coast of mainland Belize is either an island or an underwater reef or something with a really interesting dark circular spot, which I imagine is an odd deeper part of the ocean. Not sure who I would view it, but it would be quite a sight, I think.
Potala Palace
This Tibetan palace is quite a famous place. If I remember correctly, this was the historical residence of the Dalai Lama, some big figure in Buddhism. The palace looks neat though, on its own little mountain or something, and big too.
Faille d'Aledjo
This is a really weird spot, I think, but it's not totally boring and it's in Togo, a little country in Africa. Sort of like a roadside stop in the U.S. Basically, it's a tall, very narrow-looking gap in a rock that a road's been built through.
Cape Fatucama
Cape Fatucama is a place in Timor-Leste that features a peninsula, with a hill that is topped by a large statue called Cristo Rei. From this place, and perhaps others in the cape area, are likely great views of Dili and other nearby features. There may be a chance to see Indonesia from here as well.
Prachuap Khiri Khan
Prachuap Khiri Khan, I think, is a city or something by the coast of the Gulf of Thailand. Its bay scenery is the main thing I found interesting, with some tall hills/mountains/rocks on islands and peninsulas. Also kinda neat is its location on one of the very skinniest parts of Thailand (like, less than 10 miles across from Myanmar to the ocean).
Ayutthaya
Ayutthaya was the capital of Siam hundreds of years ago, perhaps. It was apparently destroyed, but the ruins are still there, looking interesting.
Sukhothai
Sukhothai was the capital of ancient Siam hundreds of years ago. Its buildings today look really old and interesting architecturally.
Shwedagon Pagoda
Not interested in this for its religious significance or anything. It just big, golden, and noticeable.
Saturday, July 14, 2012
Chichen Itza
Yes, there are likely better and less touristy places like it, but it does look famous and cool. Big stair-steppy pyramid. yay.
Acropolis
This is possibly Greece's most famous ancient landmark, and it's likely noticeable at Athens's Mars Hill. I think Paul did stuff here, too. Not sure.
Fallingwater
Fallingwater is a famous house or something designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in Pennsylvania. It has a unique setting on a river with waterfalls, and its shape and design looks appealing as well.
Wednesday, July 11, 2012
Aletsch Glacier
Aletsch Glacier is apparently the largest Swiss glacier. I imagine it's also easier to visit than other glaciers of the world. There's a good view it seems from some mountainous lookout points to its south, and likely plenty more.
Geneva
Geneva is a popular city for international events and headquarters, it seems. Among interesting places here are CERN and the city's tall water(?) fountain.
Ronda
Ronda is a Spanish city with really cool natural features, particularly the famous gorge depths. The city also looks architecturally pleasing to look at, and the famous bridge over the gorge seems quite impressive as well.
Sunday, July 8, 2012
Lake Bled
Lake Bled in northwestern Slovenia has some serious romantic potential. There's even seems to be an island in this lake with a castle on it. Or maybe it's a church. Still, serious romantic potential in this area.
Also the nearby Vintgar Gorge seems to have a very lovely walk along a river in a forest canyon.
Also the nearby Vintgar Gorge seems to have a very lovely walk along a river in a forest canyon.

Singapore
Singapore's got weird and modern buildings, and probably some interesting culture due to all the different groups that seem to make up its population. Might be fun.
Freetown
Freetown and the surrounding populated area looks huge, but also seems like a fascinating place to explore. There are natural features like a cape and beaches and some mountains, as well as plenty of man-made structures, some of which are likely interesting (perhaps government buildings and lighthouses). The culture of this city also could be interesting to learn about.
Piva Lake
Piva Lake, and the mountainous rim above it, looks very promising as a beautiful place to stop and look.
Tara River Canyon
The canyon which contains the Tara River is huge, green, and looks amazing.
Ilhéu das Rolas
This island in São Tomé and Príncipe is small but interesting due to its location right along the earth's equator. There appears to be a monument dedicated to this interesting quality, and the island itself seems pretty scenic anyway.
Mount Titano
A famous feature of San Marino, Mount Titano looks like one excellent place to tour. The view from here is likely excellent, and the castle-like structure on top looks lovely.
Tuesday, July 3, 2012
Pitons
The Pitons are two enormous volcanoes on the southwestern coast of Saint Lucia. They look really impressive, especially being so close to the coast. I'd likely be interested in seeing the Gros Piton or the Petit Piton from multiple angles. From the sea, or from the other mountains, or from the beach, the Pitons probably look amazing most, if not all, of the time.
Brimstone Hill
This hill on the island of Saint Kitts (aka Saint Cristopher) has a historic fortress on top with gorgeous views of the sea, the island, and other islands. You can even see the Netherlands from here (okay, a Caribbean island that's under Dutch independence)! The fortress itself is also appears to be a nice place.
Valley of the Geysers
In a volcanic region of the Kamchatka Peninsula, there is an area known as the Valley of the Geysers. The pictures of this place capture some amazing views, and it appears to have been a natural wonder of this planet. Apparently, a landslide or something here happened recently, so I'm not sure if this place has been affected much since then. Still, the land looks beautiful.
Kizhi
Kizhi is an island in western Russia that includes an architecturally complex building that might be called the Transfiguration Church. This building has quite a number of those "onion dome" thingies.
Lake Baikal
To my knowledge, Lake Baikal is the world's deepest lake. It's probably Russia's largest and most famous lake as well. There is mountainous scenery right next to the lake, with abundant plant life as well.
Doha
Doha is the capital of Qatar, one of the wealthiest nations per person in the world. The skyline alone looks pretty impressive; it might seem really impressive at night. This place also seems to be trying to look its best for the international community, with their hosting of the World Cup and their bids for the Olympics, and other events they're likely working on.
Bom Jesus do Monte
This church in Braga features a very interestingly designed stairway that looks pretty cool.
Porto
Porto looks like one of Portugal's prettiest cities.
Lisbon
Lisbon is a historic city that's the capital of Portugal. Sights here include a castle, a place called Belem, and a statue called Cristo Rei.
Wednesday, June 27, 2012
Iquitos
Iquitos is a populated place along the Amazon River. There are numerous hut-like structures around here, along with your general pretty South American buildings. The hut village thing on the water seems the most interesting about this place to me, though. All those kinds of buildings together, with water instead of streets between them, look really cool like that.
Lima
Lima has pretty buildings and neat mountains I think. It looks pretty pretty.
Rabaul
This location on Papua New Guinea's island of New Britain has a great view of the nearby volcanoes Tavurvur and Vulcan, at least one of which I think has been continuously active for a while, displaying a huge plume of smoke quite often I think. It might be neat to see from Rabaul.
Tufi
In eastern new Guinea, a fjord area called Tufi seems to provide opportunities for neat views and walks as well as interesting cultural discoveries.
Rock Islands
Palau's Rock Islands look beautiful, magnificent, and very artistic. The deep green and clear blue and huge fascinating twists and turns really make for a lovely scene.

Ararat
I think Mount Ararat is cool. Geology, history, and such.
Tre Cime di Lavaredo
These three (or maybe six, according to SummitPost) enormous shapes are located in the Dolomites of Italy. These features look so impressive, they could be a global destination all by themselves.
Sumela Monastery
It's like Mesa Verde, with the buildings on/in mountains, but with a monastery in Turkey.
Acapulco
Acapulco's coast features some neat scenery of the city and of natural features, is my guess. If there are nice places to hike or walk along these scenic views, that could be a nice way to spend some time.
Stonehenge
Not really a destination due to its poor quality. More like a goofy roadside stop.
Strasbourg
Strasbourg, France, is not only scenic, but also is home to a tall famous cathedral as well as various buildings greatly used by the European Union.
Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre ("five lands") are villages on cliffs in Italy, I think. In particular, Vernazza looks pretty with its multicolored buildings.
Palo Duro Canyon
Texas's Palo Duro Canyon was a surprising discovery on the map for me. I generally don't think of interesting topography when contemplating the Texas "panhandle", but apparently, there's quite a nice canyon here.
Volcan Masaya
Volcan Masaya is apparently an active volcano in Nicaragua, with quite a nice spot to view the crater. The height and terrain seem to make for quite a dazzling appearance.
Mother Russia
Mother Russia, or "The Motherland Calls", is one of the world's largest statues. Located at Mamayev Hill in Volgograd, this statue seems to be a memorial of a Russian World War II victory. Whatever it was built for, it looks pretty impressive.

Great Wall of China
This is one of the, if not the, longest man-made structures in the world, I think. The way it goes up and down crossing mountains and valleys looks fascinating.
Nambung National Park
In Australia, there are some interesting apparently-natural pinnacles in Nambung National Park.
Mount Eden
In or near Auckland is a hill-like thing called Mount Eden, I think. The views from here look great, and the "mount" itself also looks nice.
Cathedral Cove
This New Zealand location is mainly known to me due to its role in one of the Narnia movies. It certainly looks beautiful, though.

The Alamo is a historic mission in San Antonio, Texas. It looks kinda small and such, but its history and fame could make it worth stopping at.
Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam is probably the United States's most famous dam.
Cape Town
Table Mountain, by or in Cape Town, is possibly the most famous natural wonder of South Africa, which I think I'd like to see. Also, Cape Point, to the south of the city center, looks like an awesome sight.
Abu Simbel
Abu Simbel contains some big, famous ancient Egyptian structures allegedly built for Ramesses II.
Poás
In Costa Rica, there is a volcano called Volcán Poás that might be worth a visit.
Bridge of the Americas
Crossing the Panama Canal is the large Bridge of the Americas. It looks pretty, and it's a logistically significant part of the world I think.
Antigua
Antigua is a colorful city in Guatemala, with great views of a large nearby volcano.
Baños
The city of Baños, Ecuador, appears to be a geologically strange place, with waterfalls and nearby volcanic activity.
Huacachina
This place seems cool because it looks like a Peruvian oasis in a South American desert. Not sure if it technically is, though. Still looks kinda cool to me.
Guatapé
A lake and mountain area, I think known as Guatapé, in Colombia appears very scenic. In this lake area are islands, peninsulas, and a prominent rock, of and from which are likely gorgeous vistas.
Copper Canyon
Mexico's Copper Canyon looks like a beautiful place to visit.
Cape Breton
Locations like Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Meat Cove at the very north part of the island, and the famous Cabot Trail, have me interested in visiting Nova Scotia's Cape Breton region.
Forillon National Park
In southern Quebec, there's a lovely-looking national park called Forillon, on a mountainous peninsula by the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. There are beaches with great views of cliffs and such. Nearby Gaspé seems to have many nice views as well.
Monticello
Monticello is a nice-looking historic place in Virginia, famous for the influence of Thomas Jefferson. I pretty much think the place looks pretty.
Point Reyes
Point Reyes, California, looks beautiful.
Cape Disappointment
It looks like a picturesque, better, real-life version of one of those eerie puzzle paintings. Which is a good thing, I think. There's a popular image of a lighthouse above high cliffs that I'm referring to, which seems quite nice.
Jasper National Park
I'm kind of surprised I haven't heard more about Jasper National Park. It looks stunning, with its beautiful mountains and huge glaciers.
Thursday, June 21, 2012
Lake Saiful Maluk
Saiful Maluk is a lake surrounded by beautiful scenery in northern Pakistan. If I understand this correctly, it's also known as "Fairy Tale Lake". The colors here seem quite lovely.
It might be in an area called Naran, whose palindromic quality would likely be appreciated.

Lahore is a Pakistani city with some neat things to see, including various gardens with interesting usage of water and architecture.
Meroe Pyramids
The Meroe Pyramids of Sudan look like a unique collection of ancient structures with their own unique shape and style.

Mughsail Beach
On Oman's southern coast, Mughsail Beach seems quite unusual for the Arabian Peninsula. There actually seem to be patches of green around here. But there are other neat attributes about this place, it seems, like blowholes and impressive mountains.
Wadi Shab
It appears that Oman's Wadi Shab area includes a place of green at the bottom of a tall desert valley.
Bjørnøya
This island between Svalbard and mainland Scandinavia looks cool.
Lofoten Islands
The Lofoten Islands seem to offer great opportunities for the eyes. The area around Reine and the area around Rost (or is it supposed to be Røst?) look like beautiful places. There seem to be beaches here like Horseid and Bunes that are pretty interesting and kinda pretty.
Lysefjord
The area of Norway's Lysefjord looks like quite a spectacular place to visit. Two places around here that seem particularly interesting are Preikestolen and the Kjeragbolten, both locations with quite a view and quite a drop.
Arakao
In the Tenere Desert, part of the Sahara probably, there's a crater of a volcano (apparently extinct or inactive) called Arakao. It looks very isolated and very amazing. There are sand dunes at the bottom of the crater, and the rim seems to be made of mountains (of the Air group) colored black or dark gray. Looks really neat, though getting there could be tough.

Isla de Ometepe
Isla de Ometepe is a large island in Lake Nicaragua. It features two volcanoes, and pretty much looks cool on a map. At least seeing it seems cool, but there could be neat things to see/do on the island itself too, like waterfalls, or hiking.
Punakaiki
New Zealand's West Coast, around the Punakaiki area, has some neat things to offer. Punakaiki is apparently well-known for blowholes and features called the "Pancake Rocks". There are other neat things in this area most likely.
Nauru
Nauru is a very interesting little country. It's basically one island: no huge vast-reaching archipelagos like other Pacific nations. It's densely populated, possibly struggling to survive due to their lack of natural resources, and tiny. I'd like to tour around this place. There could be some neat things to see here, like the old phosphate mines and the government buildings, and lagoons and towns and such.
Dry Tortugas
It looks like a challenge to get here–why don't I say that more often on this blog I don't know–but it looks beautiful and interesting. Apparently, the fort located in Dry Tortugas National Park is of historical significance. The area it's in, a bunch of tiny islands surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico, or the Atlantic Ocean, or both maybe, looks really cool for visiting.
Porcupine Mountains
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan contains an area known as a Porcupine Mountains, which seems like a hidden treasure. One particular view I'd like to see is from an overlook of the Lake of the Clouds, which looks very promising and gorgeous.

Gibraltar
Gibraltar is interesting for two main reasons (and probably more). First of all, it's got the gargantuan and iconic Rock of Gibraltar making up a huge part of this comparatively small location. Secondly, it's a tiny United Kingdom peninsula on the mostly Spain Iberian Peninsula. The culture here might be interesting to witness.
Puroland
Sanrio Puroland is one of the few, possibly less than few, amusement parks in the world that interest me. Experiencing Puroland, a huge place for Hello Kitty stuff, could make for one of the strangest days ever. Oh yeah.
Sossusvlei
At Sossusvlei, in the Namib Desert, there are large sand dunes. These are possibly the world's largest.
Fish River Canyon
Apparently, according to Namibian travel website, the Fish River Canyon is one of the world's largest canyons. Okay then.
Cape Cross
Namibia has a "seal reserve" at Cape Cross, along the county's Atlantic coast. It appears that it's famous for seals. All those seals could be neat to see.
Windhoek
Windhoek is the capital of Namibia. It contains much history, which for some reason I found somewhat surprising. Hm. Anyway, the Parliament grounds look quite nice, as does a famous place called the Christuskirche.
Swakopmund
Along the coast of Namibia, the city of Swakopmund is famous for resembling a German town. The architecture looks lovely, and the nearby coast seems to offer scenic views.
Cahora Bassa Dam
This impressive dam on the Zambezi river system is located in a scenic area of northwestern Mozambique.

Channel Tunnel
The Channel Tunnel is the famous tunnel that goes across the English Channel, connecting Great Britain to mainland Europe. It might be cool to go through this tunnel one way or the other.
Dades Gorge
Dades Gorge and the nearby Todra Gorge (also looks visitable) are located in the area of the Atlas Mountains. Both gorges seem recommended by visitors, and a certain climb in the road of Dades Gorge is apparently quite a driving experience with its twisty path.

Niagara Falls
The Niagara Falls area seems to be super-touristy, but the main attraction does look impressive.
Pyramids of Giza
Those famous old pyramids, yes. They look huge and neat and ancient, and could be neat to see up close, along with the Sphinx statue that's kind of on the same grounds maybe.
Neuschwanstein Castle
Neuschwanstein, if I spelled it correctly, is probably Germany's most famous castle, and maybe even the world's.

Gorkhi-Terelj
Gorkhi-Terelj National Park in Mongolia I chose kinda because I didn't have anything in Mongolia yet. It does look pretty ,though, and there's a neat... rock formation too. Yeah, apparently I like cool rock formations.
London Bridge
Lake Havasu City bought the London Bridge a while ago, so now there's this big odd English artifact in this desert area. Cool!
Leaning Tower of Pisa
The Leaning Tower of Pisa's Piazza dei Miracoli is world-famous, although I'm not sure if it's much different from the United States's similarly strange roadside attractions. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, right? Not planning to take that common "holding-up-the-tower" photo, though, but the tower could be a neat stop.
Shanghai
Shanghai's downtown or central area looks pretty neat with it's crazy-looking buildings and colors. Being China's largest city, Shanghai likely includes some neat things to see and do in addition. Also in the vicinity of Shanghai area bunch of "water towns" like Zhouzhuang and such, like near Suzhou, which have old architecture and canals and bridges that look pretty cool. Also some cool gardens.
Mexico City
Mexico City is the capital of Mexico, and, by some measures, the world's most populous city. There is so much to see in this city, I am sure. So much history, architecture, and culture seems to live here, and I'm certainly curious about it.
Bruges
Bruges, or Brugge, looks kind of romantic, due to its fancy buildings and canals/rivers.
New Orleans
New Orleans seems to have had quite an interesting history. It's had periods of French rule, American rule, battles, and disasters it seems. And it looks pretty touristy. Why not check it out?
Jerusalem
I would like to visit possibly the most important city in the world, Jerusalem. There are numerous things to see that seem to be some of the most interesting and possibly significant things in the world. I'm a Bible-believing Christian, but I'm not sure exactly what one's supposed to think of certain things in Jerusalem. I certainly don't feel that I must visit certain places in Israel, nor do I think that visiting Jerusalem places is particularly "holy". I'd mainly visit for the interest of its places.
The world-famous Dome of the Rock seems quite mysterious and strange, as does the Wailing Wall and the Via Dolorosa. There are also modern things like the national museum and the Knesset that could be neat to check out. Also Yad Vashem to see the famous Israeli Holocaust memorial.

Venice
Venice, Italy, seems visit-worthy basically because of what it seems to be famous for. It's got so many canals, pretty structures, and stuff like that.
Florence
Florence, Italy, just looks pretty. Just to walk around in the city might offer some pretty scenery.
Toronto
I'm not too sure if there's anything to culturally experience in Toronto (probably, being one Canada's most influential cities). But mainly to see the CN Tower and the City Hall, I might stop by.
Sunday, June 10, 2012
Kakadu
I'm kinda surprised I didn't know much of the Northern Territory's Kakadu National Park until today. I still don't know much, actually, but it does look really neat.
Banff
Banff National Park contains some of Canada's most known natural wonders. The lakes, glaciers, forest, and mountains here are gorgeous, and somewhat representative of the best of Canada's beauty in creation.
Monday, June 4, 2012
Monaco
Monaco has a bunch of interesting stuff. I'm curious how the world's most densely populated nation works. The architecture in the Monte Carlo area looks nice, and the mountainous views of the city could be quite photographic if done right. It appears to be a unique place on Earth.
Pohnpei
On or near (haven't figured it out) the Micronesian island of Pohnpei, there is a topographical feature called Sokehs Rock that looks really neat as part of the background above other places in Pohnpei.
Cañón del Sumidero
The Sumidero Canyon in Chiapas is huge. You can probably take a boat ride through the bottom.
Mauritius
There are many treasures of creation on the island of Mauritius. There are multiple waterfalls complete with lovely scenery among them (for example, at the Black River Gorges, I think). There's also a place with some very neat feature called seven-colored earth. It looks like artificially-dyed ice cream, which actually seems to be a good thing.
Ben Amera
Mauritania's Ben Amera is a huge monolith in the Sahara Desert. Its black color really sets it apart from its larger Australian counterpart.
Azure Window
Along the coast of Gozo, Malta's major northern island, are pretty big cliffs and such. Along its coast is a natural arch that looks awesome.
Maldives
The Maldives is an Indian Ocean island chain that includes some gorgeous areas of bright see-through turquoise waters with fantastic buildings that appear to float peacefully on the surface. Some of these are likely expensive, but just to be at a place like that could be so cool.
Isalo
Isalo is a place in Madagascar with weird natural things to look at. Maybe.
Sandakan
Sandakan is a city in Sabah, Malaysia, that seems to offer many exotic sights. There is a "water village" in the area, as well as a beautiful nearby island called Berhala. It's quite a big city, but in this part of the world that could mean different things than in the more northern European-influenced urban areas.
Petronas Towers
Kuala Lumpur's Petronas Towers (or is it one tower) are very tall, and significant in the skyscraper records area. They might be worth a look.
Friday, June 1, 2012
Allée des Baobabs
This place contains a bunch of spectacular baobab trees in a very intriguing group, like a city of tree-like towers. Not that there is a city of tree-like towers out there. Maybe.
Tsingy de Bemaraha
This place reminds me of a description somewhere in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz book that described a place of sharp jagged rocks or something, maybe. And that area of "super sharp rock spires" or something, although that was inappropriately named, maybe.
Anyway, it looks really neat, and there could be chance of spotting lemurs there too.
Anyway, it looks really neat, and there could be chance of spotting lemurs there too.
Antananarivo
Madagascar's capital city Antananarivo seems to defy the normal appearance of other African cities. The architecture appears surprisingly European. Within the city, there seems to be a lovely lake setting surrounding Lac Anasy. This area includes some pretty-looking colorful trees of much purple.
Krusevo
Krusevo, Macedonia, is a city that appears to be shaped by hills and mountains, and the red roofs of its buildings combine with these slopes to make a nice view from above.

Overland Track
This is one of my crazier ones, like the Trans-Siberian Railroad (How was I supposed to mark that on the world map?). It's described as a 65 kilometer(re), six-day walk in Tasmania. But the views along the way, especially those of Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake, seem to lead to the conclusion that this walk could be worth it.
Hong Kong
The view of Hong Kong from Victoria Peak or another similarly great view of all the skyscrapers could be a great sight. There are also plenty of things to do and see there, I assume.
Bagan
Bagan looks like either a city or a former city or just a collection of old colorful temples. It looks neat in the jungle-ish setting.
Luxor Temple
If I could handle whatever this thing is, it might be interesting to visit. Looks fake, but I guess it ain't if it's so famous.
Anse Source d'Argent
This location on La Digue in the Seychelles islands seems to be a rocky coast beach, but much different from other rock coasts I know of. The sculpture-like features of this area look very impressive.
Monument Valley
The United States's Monument Valley of huge rock formations in its southwestern area is quite an iconic place. Strangely, I haven't seen it yet.
Ngorongoro Crater
I learned aboutt his place from the Amazing Race, I think. It looks quite lovely, still, though there are likely plenty of other tourists. Which isn't always a bad thing.
Viaduc de Millau
This is the world's tallest bridge, I think. It looks very impressive.
Waimea Canyon
Found another canyon in Hawaii. Looks colorful and very pretty.
Taroko Gorge
Just found out about this place, which looks like Taiwan's metaphorical answer to other great canyons and gorges of the world.
White Cliffs of Dover
Why not see what all the hype is about.
Thursday, May 24, 2012
Red Square
Moscow's Red Square is probably the most famous touristy place in Russia. Not sure if its significance, but those funny-shaped buildings do look neat.
Kursiu Nerija
Kursiu Nerija, or the Curonian something-or-other, I think is an area of beaches or something. It looks kinda pretty.
Thursday, May 17, 2012
Trollstigen
The area of Trollstigen, Norway, looks quite spectacular. I found this mountain road that appears quite popular due to its beautiful views.
Buck's Pocket
In Alabama, there is a location called Buck's Pocket with nice views of a forested valley.

Taupo
The Taupo area on New Zealand's North Island contains a bunch of interesting things. There's Huka Falls, a place where waters does... something. It appears kinda pretty.
There's also a place called "Craters of the Moon", which appears to be a thermally active location. Yellowstone kinda creeped me out, but I'm curious if it's any different in New Zealand.
And there's some place called the Aratiatia Rapids, which apparently are dry for a while then occasionally filled with river due to a dam being opened and closed.

Pucón
Pucón is a city in Chile that has great natural surroundings, including the huge volcanic snowcapped mountain Villaricca. There's also a neat little peninsula right by the town; I wonder if it's worth checking out.
Los Arrayanes
Los Arrayanes National Park contains a forest of arrayanes trees, whose color and shape appears to become quite pretty in such quantity and concentration.
Lanín
Lanín National Park appears to be just north of Nahuel Huapi, with its own spectacular mountain views of Lanín Volcano.
Los Gigantes
"Los Gigantes" are some rock formations in some big lake on the border of the provinces Neuquén and Rio Negro in Argentina. They look large, prominent, and cool.
Tuesday, May 15, 2012
Mount Roraima
Mount Roraima is one of those things that I think are called tepuis. This one is particularly famous, and might provide an opportunity to visit the international tripoint of Brazil, Guyana, and Venezuela. The natural scenery, of course, would be the star of this visit, I think. Checking out the top of it might be a neat walk.
Iguaçu Falls
The Iguaçu Falls are some of the most famous waterfalls on the planet. Massive amounts of waterfall go through here in a spectacular and visually winning manner.
Taipei 101
It is Taiwan's tallest, and, likely, most recognizable, building.
Angel Falls
Angel Falls is, I think, the world's tallest waterfall. It's in a beautiful jungle setting in Venezuela.
Atomium
The Atomium in Brussels has a lot of hype about it, it seems. But it does look kinda cool, so why not. Also, there's a place close to it called Mini-Europe. It probably costs something, but it's possibility if I'm around that location.
Monday, May 14, 2012
Mehrangarh Fort
Mehrangarh Fort is located on a mountain or hill that overlooks the city of Jodhpur, India. It looks quite large from certain viewpoints nearby, like from another place called Jaswant Thada. The Mehrangarh Fort likewise has pretty good views of the city from its location.
Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer is a city located in Rajasthan, India. I assume it's a city, at least; with India's population, it doesn't seem that there would be very many "towns" or "villages". Anyway, there are two places in particular that look visit-worthy in Jaisalmer. First, there is a location on a narrow street called Patwon Ki Haveli, a tall building with many balconies. The intricate designs there remind me of Petra, but the town here looks much more alive than a tourist spot in a Jordanian canyon. Second, there is a fort/castle thing on a hill, I think.
Friday, May 4, 2012
Luxembourg
The city of Luxembourg looks like a nice place to explore. There are various bridges/aqueducts in the city that look neat, as well as some international significance.
Hill of Crosses
In northern Lithuania, there's a place called the Hill of Crosses that is basically just that. I'm not of its meaning or purpose, but it looks very interesting.
Ubari
The Ubari Sand Sea and the Ubari Lakes in the Sahara Desert of Libya feature some remarkable natural beauty. The beauty of the sand and the amazing oases make a seemingly rare sight. One of these lakes is called Umm-al-Maa, and has a lovely coast with vegetation among all the barren dunes.
Maletsunyane Falls
I'm assuming it's in a place called Sehlabathebe National Park, which itself looks like a neat destination. Maletsunyane Falls pours into a magnificent gorge, covered in green and brown complimenting each other, with rolling hills on top. It looks lovely, and ponies can be provided too!
Monday, April 30, 2012
Tyre
The ruins of Tyre look pretty interesting. I think it's mentioned in the Bible.
Ludza Ruins
There is a site of ruins supposedly of a castle built around 1399 in Ludza, Latvia. The place looks quite nice, and a nearby lake can be seen from the ruins.
Khone Falls
The waterfalls and rapids of the Mekong River in the very southern part of Laos seem quite large, and the volume of muddy-looking water than goes through here sounds large as well.
Vang Vieng
Vang Vieng, a place in Laos, has some lovely mountains and a river nearby that look really super.

Tokyo
There are a few sights in Tokyo that I'm interested in checking out: the Tokyo Tower, the Sky Tree, and that famous intersection where the pedestrians look cool in fast-forward motion. But also knowing that this is, by some definitions, the world's largest city, there may be quite a potential for adventure here.
Machu Picchu
Yes, Machu Picchu has a lot of hype with it, but the setting of this ancient landmark looks fantastic.
Mount Fuji
Fujiyama, aka Mount Fuji, is a beautifully created mountain. Just to see it would likely satisfy me; no need to go to its top or climb it. A good view of this would probably do the trick for me.
Ordesa
Spain's Ordesa and Monte Perdido (perhaps) National Park has some very neat mountainous scenery, and good ways to view it as well, it seems.
Sagrada Familia Basilica
This church in Spain has been under construction for over 100 years, and it is quite a sight to look at already. Also in Barcelona is Park Guell, which might be interesting. Also this mountain church amusement park thing called Tibidabo, haha what.
Fernando do Noronha
The islands of Fernando do Noronha belong to Brazil, although they are fairly far away from the mainland. They do look quite beautiful, though. The colors and shapes of the land and water there look very attractive.
Saturday, April 28, 2012
Parliament House
The Parliament House in Australia's capital, Canberra, is quite a neat-looking building, and looks like a fun place to explore.
Friday, April 27, 2012
Tasiilaq
The town of Tasiilaq (aka Ammassalik or Angmagssalik) is possibly the prettiest-looking community in the northern regions of the world. Unlike other near-Arctic villages, Tasiilaq's buildings are cute, colorful, and adorable together. And of course, the surrounding mountainous and snowy views seem worth mentioning.
Thursday, April 26, 2012
Orlando Towers
The Orlando Towers in Soweto seem to be iconic, and famous for bungee jumping or something like that. They also appear to have colorful exteriors.
Blyde River Canyon
The Blyde River Canyon in Mpumalanga is a massive canyon in a lush environment. I had heard of this place before, but I'd think it would be great to go to.
Bourke's Luck Potholes. No clue why's they're called that, but they look pretty neat.
Bourke's Luck Potholes. No clue why's they're called that, but they look pretty neat.
Golden Gate Highlands
This national park in the Maluti Mountains area has some spectacular scenery; a mix of gorgeous greens combined with huge sandstone features.
Big Hole
There's a really big hole in or near Kimberley, South Africa. It's been named the Big Hole.
Also, Kimberley seems to have the Northern Cape provincial legislature building which looks cool.
Also, Kimberley seems to have the Northern Cape provincial legislature building which looks cool.
Namaqualand
In South Africa, there is an area in Northern Cape called Namaqualand that blooms into a scenic floral wonder in the spring.

Karpacz
Karpacz is a place in southern Poland, apparently famous throughout Europe. It does include some somewhat interesting things, such as the Vang Church, Sosnówka, Strazacka Street (a place where a gravity-related illusion is reported to occur; also near waterfalls), a Miniature Park, and a "Western City". Could be a European touristy place, but it seems cool enough to check out.
Matterhorn
As of writing this post, I'm not very interested in climbing the Matterhorn. However, I do think it would be something nice to see. There seem to be many good perspectives available in Zermatt, a location in Switzerland.
Tuesday, April 17, 2012
Ouidah
Ouidah is an interesting place by or on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea in southern Benin. In its area and/or vicinity, there are at least two interesting monuments/landmarks. Two places I've seen in proximity to each other at the moment are the Door of No Return, apparently a significant location for the historical slave trade; and the Millennium Monument (also called the Memorial du Grand Jubilé), which apparently commemorates the second coming of Christ.
Monday, April 9, 2012
Fanning Island
Fanning Island of the Line Islands in Kiribati has spectacular landscapes that I imagine are not easy to find elsewhere in the world. In particular, the sand interspersed in amazing ways throughout the main lagoon would be quite some place to take a walk.
Tarawa
The island/atoll of Tarawa contains beautiful plant scenery as well as the capital of Kiribati. The parliament house of Kiribati is a particular building that looks neat to visit. However, the natural features of this island group look quite attractive. The green vegetation and yellow beaches and the blue ocean waters combined could be a nice sight.
Mount Kenya
The rock faces and mountainous shapes of Mount Kenya seem uniquely grand and look glorious. Seeing the scale of these features in person would be something I think I'd be interested in.
Lake Nakuru
The flamingo flocks at Lake Nakuru would likely be a lovely sight.
Baikonur
The Baikonur "cosmodrome" (whatever that is) sounds interesting. Since the United States is cutting back on some of its space programs, Russia's use of the Cosmodrome here in Kazakhstan seems to be an increasingly more interesting place.
Also, all the place names with Q's in them might be cool to be around.
Petra
Petra is the famous ancient city in Jordan that features numerous places carved of rock, to my knowledge.
Saturday, March 24, 2012
Slieve League
Spectacular images of a place called Slieve League came up on a search I did trying to find the meaning of the word "slieve". It didn't answer by question, but it did give me another potential tourism stop.
Sunday, March 11, 2012
Cerro de la Silla
Cerro de la Silla, apparently either in or near Cumbres de Monterrey National Park in Nuevo León, is a famous two-peaked geological landmark. It is a large recognizable mountain, to my current knowledge.
Sierra de San Pedro Mártir National Park
Sierra de San Pedro Mártir is a Mexican national park featuring mountains and likely other features in Baja California.
Cascada de Basaseachi
Cascada de Basaseachi is a marvelous-lookin' waterfall in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Friday, March 9, 2012
Parliament House
The Canadian Parliament House building is a beautiful structure, visible from both Ontario and Quebec. I wouldn't mind a trip to Ottawa just to stop here, or get a good view of it.
International Peace Garden
The International Peace Garden is located in North Dakota and Manitoba, commemorating the relations between Canada and the United States. The floral layout and other structures there seem rather impressive. Another interesting thing is that if you enter from the United States side, you can enter Manitoba (without leaving the garden, though) and return, without any passport. All you need is proof of citizenship, so that little border crossing might be a bit exciting for those into that sort of thing.
Montréal
Two locations in Montréal impress me enough that I'd like to take a visit. Number one is the amazing Underground City, which connects a large amount of businesses and other facilities beneath the surface. Exploring this might be a fun experience, though it seems that it's easy to get lost here. Another location I'd like to stop by is the Big Owe stadium used for the Olympics. The story behind it is kinda funny (though some Quebecois taxpayers might disagree), and the structure is so weird that it reminds me of an American roadside landmark. Also, Habitat 67 might be neat to see too.
Thursday, March 8, 2012
Canton Tower
The Canton Tower, if I remember correctly, has beat out the CN Tower as the world's tallest self-supporting structure. It's located in Guangzhou (aka "Canton") also, if I am correct.
Bald Rock
Bald Rock is the main feature of Bald Rock National Park, which I'm not sure is really in New South Wales or Queensland definitively. I guess it's pretty much on the border. Anyway, this rock is pretty large and interesting. The walk there seems like a nice one.
Saturday, March 3, 2012
Banks Peninsula
To the southeast of Christchurch is a beautiful peninsula, from both a cartographical perspective and from a topographical perspective. It contains many lovely mountains, folds, harbors (harbours here), and plenty more. I imagine it is quite a peaceful environment, and looks like a great place to spend a day or more traveling.
Thursday, March 1, 2012
Machtesh Ramon
Ramon Crater, aka Machtesh Ramon, is a big geologic thing in southern Israel. They say it's a crater of sorts, though it doesn't exactly look that way topographically in my opinion. Either way, it looks like a pretty neat place.
Saturday, February 25, 2012
Mason Bay
I just discovered the existence a very neat area of grassy sand dunes at Mason Bay, on the west coast of New Zealand's Stewart Island. The views from these spots look beautiful.
Wednesday, February 22, 2012
Bukit Kelam
While exploring the equator on Google Earth, a sudden terrain feature showed up on the island of Borneo. A little more Google action later, I have learned the thing's name is apparently Bukit Kelam, and it is actually quite an impressive monolith. It seems to be like Indonesia's jungle-covered response to Uluru. Quite a mysterious place to put such a mountain, I'd say, but it seems somewhat compelling.
Wanlu Yuan
The city of Haikou on the Chinese island Hainan contains an "evergreen park" of sorts called the Wanlu Yuan (or Wanluyuan, or WanLuYuan, etc.). It's basically a very large garden, but the views from it look very promising. To the south, the skyline of Haikou rises above the trees. To the north, the park includes part of the coast of the Qiongzhou Strait. There are also many works of art throughout the park, which may make it a nice place to wander around.
Friday, February 17, 2012
Vik i Myrdal
Vik i Myrdal is a place in Iceland that is not only a geographic point of interest (reportedly the southernmost point of Iceland's main island), but it's also got quite a beautiful natural arch at Dyrholaey that would make a visit to such a place actually impressive. The southernmost point on Iceland has a spectacular beach as well, with pretty confusing geologic structures.
Jokulsarlon
The Jokulsarlon lagoon is famous for a bunch of floating icebergs. I'm not sure if this is seasonal or not, but either way I'd like to see all that artistic ice in one place at one time. Cool.
Svartifoss
The waterfall Svartifoss in southern Iceland pours over a pretty cool cliff made of hexagonal basalt, if you know what that means. It looks quite surreal.
San Pedro Sula
San Pedro Sula is a city in Honduras. It looks charming.
Citadelle La Ferrière
In northern Haiti, there is a well-constructed fortress called the Citadelle. It's on top of a pretty good-sized mountain; if I was choosing a place for a fortress/castle thing, I'd consider that a really good location myself. About three miles northwest is a palace which was the residence of the same king who had something to do with the Citadelle I think. Both structures are pretty old and historic, but still impressive.
Kaieteur
Kaieteur National Park in Guyana includes the famous Kaieteur Falls, which flows into the spectacular Pataro Gorge.
Bafatá
Bafatá is a city in interior Guinea-Bissau that exhibits some pretty neat buildings apparently from the Portuguese colonial period. It is also adjacent to the Rio Geba river.
Kindia
Kindia, Guinea, is surrounded by pretty neat natural features, especially the nonpareil-seeming mountains. There are also some waterfalls, but the mountains here look pretty spectacular of their own category.
Lake Atitlan
Lake Atitlan is a large lake in Guatemala surrounded by volcanoes and villages. Both the natural scenery and the communities would likely be an interesting tour for me.
Thursday, February 16, 2012
Oia
Oia is a village on the Greek island of Santorini. Oia is a community with buildings which have colorful exteriors, predominantly white. Normally not much of anything, but the architecture and the terrain of the island combine to form a spectacular scene of magnificence.
Saxon Switzerland
In the region of Germany known as Saxon Switzerland is a national park with the same name that contains many amazing rock formations. One place called Bastei that features a building complex among these peculiar twists and turns, accompanied by lovely views of the surrounding forestry.
Gudauri
Going northwest on the road from Gudauri, Georgia (the one in the Asian Caucasus, not the American state), one should come to a memorial complex serving to honor the relations between the nations of Georgia and Russia. This structure is simple, but artistically decorated in a mosaic style. The best part of this place, however, seems to be the view.
This spot is in the area of Kazbegi National Park, an area of amazing beauty, which itself would be worth a few days of roaming.
Ivindo
The waterfalls of Ivindo National Park are apparently attractive enough to get the area included in a safari/tour. There may be many other things here to discover.
Batéké Plateau
The Batéké Plateau National Park in southeastern Gabon contains lovely meadow-like areas (possibly meadows) and a colorful spot called the White Canyon or Canyon Blanc.

Tianshan and Wensu Canyons
I discovered a beautiful and mysterious area in northwest Xinjiang at about 41.64 N, 80.68 E. It appears to be a red dry canyon that's somewhat popular among travelers, and by the photographs found, I think I'm with them. One problem is that I can't seem to find the name of the place in English, but apparently there are similar canyons (or are they all the same one?) around northern Xinjiang. If any I found in research are the one I discovered first, I'm guessing it's the Wensu Canyon. But all of them seem worth a visit, possibly even an entire vacation with these formations as the destination.
Friday, January 27, 2012
Foula
Between Great Britain and the main Shetland Islands is a small island called Foula. It contains many rolling hills and views of rock formations off the coast. The hills/mountains especially look like a fun place to wander around.
Thursday, January 26, 2012
Chenonceau
Chenonceau Castle is quite a uniquely-designed castle in central France. As it crosses the river Cher, part of the structure becomes a beautiful arched bridge. The spires and color scheme of the building go together quite well also.
Other castles in the area would also probably be worth visiting, including Chambord and Amboise.
Åland
There seem to be millions of islands in the archipelago of Åland. Plenty of these islands are really islets, since they are so small. There is also a population in this area, so I'm curious how this interesting geography affects the culture. I'd also like seeing so many islands in one area.
Gondar
Gondar is an Ethiopian city rich in history and architecture. There are numerous castles, including some world-famous ones, which are quite lovely to look at.
Simien Mountains
Simien Mountains National Park is a collection of magnificent African wildlife and scenery. The views from some of these high places must be unimaginably grand.
Taka Mountains
The Taka Mountains are an enormous topographical masterpiece by the city of Kassala in eastern Sudan. Surely there's plenty to do/see in the city, but I'd really enjoy getting up close to these enormous rocks.
Annobón
Equatorial Guinea somehow has possession of a faraway Atlantic island called Annobón, south of Sao Tome and Principe. This island looks worth visiting, though, with beautiful green plant life everywhere and interesting terrain and coastlines.
Laguna Quilotoa
The Laguna Quilotoa seems to be an Andean version of Orgeon's Crater Lake. It's in Ecuador, and most likely in a fairly different environment than the Cascades.
And it's huge.

Table Mountains
In southeastern Newfoundland, I discovered a magnificent set of mountains near a place called "Red Rocks". Here there is a large hill complete with a road to its summit, from which there is a view of this magnificent range. The pictures people have taken from the top of the Table Mountain(s) appear equally stunning.

Caldwell County Courthouse
Lockhart, Texas, is apparently the seat of Caldwell County. Its courthouse in the city, however, was a much more interesting find. A central clock tower surrounded by other spires reaches to the sky, and the colors and design of the exterior are quite lovely.
Bee County's seems quite interesting as well.

Cerro Mandango
Vilcabamba, Ecuador, has a neat mountain above it, which I believe is called "Mandango". Only the photos can accurately describe it, compared to the pathetic sentences I write on this blog. I think I've got the right location on the Google map for this thing, so you can check Panoramio to see why it looks cool to me, perhaps.

Klein Curaçao
Klein Curaçao is a tiny island in the Caribbean that, I assume, belongs to Curaçao, which belongs to the Netherlands. Anyway, I like this island because is looks so peaceful and isolated. A picturesque ancient-looking lighthouse is located here, and the experience of walking around on the surrounding grounds sounds like a really neat experience.
Hammeren
The area of Hammeren, "the hammer", is around the northwest tip of Bornholm, a Danish island in the Baltic Sea. Hammeren has a lot of interesting features, such as a castle ruin called Hammershus and a significant granite feature called Hammerknuden. Aside from the neat Danish names, it's quite a pretty place.
